About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit every continent and make friends in them all

ABOUT ME

I'm old enough to know better but young enough to still be doing it! I didn't see and do as much as I should have earlier in life. I'm grateful for all the travel I have done because I have so many wonderful memories but I know there is always another horizon to explore and I shouldn't rest for too long.

PHILOSOPHY

If I was to choose a motto for life it'd probably be 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'. It captures the fact that while dreams are important, it's even more important to live those dreams. You are more likely to regret what you haven't done in life than what you have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've only hosted a couple of members for a night but it's a wonderful concept and I'd like to be more involved. It's a great way to make new friends around the world and learn about different cultures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met my first couchsurfer in Borneo Malaysia and was touched by his kindness. He didn't actually host me but picked me up when I was hitching a ride. I have since hosted a couple of girls in the community. This was a great experience and they encouraged me to join for myself.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Dan Brown books and Lonely Planet guidebooks. I enjoy movies in the thriller, action, drama and comedy genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could choose from many different experiences but I think one that really stands out is crossing the 5400m Thorong-La Pass in the Nepalese Himalayas. I'd had problems with altitude sickness and diahorrea so I was very proud of my achievement.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to share with people about life 'down under'. I grew up in New Zealand and now live in Australia so I have a broad knowledge of the Antipodean life and culture. In return I'm always interested in learning about other cultures.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Fiji, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Laos, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
