About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Backpacking Europe for a month on my own.

ABOUT ME

I am a nice and laid-back person. I like to be around people who make me laugh at a high frequency - I currently have two jobs: I make coffee at one and sell bread at the other. I also go to school full time and am one year away from getting my bachelors. I am double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. I would like to go to graduate school (not too sure where) and go into experimental cognitive neuroscience.

PHILOSOPHY

I enjoy learning about philosophy and am mostly interested in philosophy of mind. I like extreme philosophies, but appreciate pragmatic ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am very new to the CS community - So I am hoping to participate by sleeping on a lot of couches coming up here pretty soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have none so far, but that will change within the next few months, I hope.

Interests

Some of my favorite things are literature, music, art, and movies. When I am not spending time at school, work, or with family and friends - I like to read mostly. I often read too many books at once, and buy books faster than I can read them. My favorite writers are JD Salinger and Charles Bukowski - though I am currently reading Dostoevsky. As for music, I am never happier than I am when I am at a music festival. I like a little bit of everything but one of my favorites is Spoon. In the winters, I mostly try to stay warm - though I snowboard occasionally (and poorly). In the summers, I like to just wonder around and go on hikes with my dog, Sadie.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have adressed this above in a vague manner, but let me go further.

Movies: (by director) Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Life Aquatic, etc.), P.T. Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia), The Coen Brothers (The Big Lebowski, Fargo), David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, etc.), and many others. I have a soft spot for old and strange science fiction as well.

Music: Aesop Rock, Andrew Bird, Arcade Fire, Beach House, The Beastie Boys, Beck, Beirut, The Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Feist, Future Islands, Gogol Bordello, Kaki King, The Kinks, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, Regina Spektor, Spoon, St. Vincent, Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits, The Walkman, The White Stripes, Wu-Tang Clan, and a bunch more.

Books: I love literature of just about any kind; fiction, non-fiction, short stories, essays, and poetry. My favorites are JD Salinger, Charles Bukowski, Albert Camus, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, and Sylvia Plath... again, just to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the coolest things I have done was go to two large music festivals one week apart. I went to Sasquatch (Washington) and then a week later, I went to Bonnaroo (Tennessee). It was a lot of fun, though I was beat at the end of it all.

To be honest, I am a very driven and work oriented person, so most of my time since high school has been dedicated to school and working. I want more life experience and world experience, though. I think it is about time I had a real adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

It is far better to spend your time and money on experiences and memories rather than material goods.
