About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet other travelers and trade stories and suggestions and just generally to make people's times in the cities I'm hosting in a bit more gritty and enjoyable

ABOUT ME

I travel because the world is there and every moment that I am immobilised by the gears of modern life is a moment that I'm missing something magical. Of course, the pursuit of magic in your own environment is always admirable, and as long as I'm here I'm more than happy to share those experiences with someone new.

PHILOSOPHY

It's cheesy and any Norwegian who reads this will think I'm a yuppie hipster who should have this tattooed on my lower back, but:

"We could all benefit from a little fresh air"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host a couch in our apartment in China which introduced me to a load of cool friends. Also, I can cook and swap stories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

bouncing around friends' houses in Europe made me realise that there's really no better way to get around.

Interests

photography, climbing, bouldering, writing, music, films, travel (obviously), people, new ideas, philosophy (I sound like a wiener listing that as one, but it's true), reading, cycling, food, cooking, wine, dark beer, eggplant (if you've been to China you'll know why eggplant is a legitimate interest), wilderness

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Wes Anderson, Vonnegut, P.W. Roberts, all music is welcome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A cramped car ride through Esfanhan with a group of drunk Persian soccer players who had recently stolen a bull's horn and whom we had just met moments ago in a teahouse.

Sitting in the cave at the top of Groove Tube on Tonsai beach at midnight watching the thunder storms rip across the ocean.

Sleeping on the floor of the New Delhi train station on the way to Rishikesh, dreaming of what I'd done to get there and what lay ahead of me yet.

Getting drunk on homemade wine with a new friend at the ski hill north of Tehran.

Meeting Annie Leibowitz's private chef on a food tour through Turkey.
