About Me

TRAVEL PLANS

I just graduated from Theatre School and I'm currently adventuring around the world on a tight budget. I'm doing volunteer work on the way and doing what I can to experience cultures as authentically as possible. I'm funny, kind and sometimes too honest.

I can be very outgoing but also very introverted depending on the day. I love to have a good conversation but sometimes I just need to read or stare at the internet for a few hours to get my energy back. I sleep in if I can but I love a good reason to wake up early.

My current adventure started in South-East India where I helped create an inter-generational theatre company to provide community for impoverished children and elders as part of a field school. I stopped in Sri Lanka for some fun, took trains up to Hampi to relax and climb some rocks, and finally flew to Nepal. In Nepal I lived at a children's home for two months where I helped out around the house and taught the kids what I could about English and guitar. I also took a trip to Dhading.

Now I'm in SE Asia for a few months of frugal living before I fly to Denmark for work and family. I'll be in Prague around June

PHILOSOPHY
Live a balanced life, be honest and only use what you need.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Theatre is not a profitable profession, but it has provided me a deep appreciation of people as well as a passion for new experiences. I want to drink coffee, eat food, see the sights, go on adventures and party very hard. These things are all much worse when done alone.

After one week on Couchsurfing I've met some of the most interesting people and experienced some wonderful generosity. I'm hooked on this community vibe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a consultant, facilitator and musical director for the first (of my knowledge) Inter-generational Theatre for Development project working with survivors of the tsunami in 2004 in India. The final performance was a complete success and allowed for the enthusiastic beginning of four more projects of the same concept.

With a group of Canadians and Indians we planned and observed one month of workshops and rehearsals with Indian elders and children who had never performed before. Our goal was to teach the playful format of theatre that we'd practiced in Canada without imposing our Canadian culture onto their theatrical traditions.

I composed and performed background music to support the actors on stage and was required to improvise to fill the occasional silence onstage.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to play guitar and help you with your computer. I can help you with English. Writing, acting, directing, design and more!

I'd love to learn more about everything I can teach. I'd also love to learn everything you know about cooking and music, or really whatever you are passionate about. I'm very open to trying new things at least once.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I worked a few years as a carpenter, so maybe I can fix your stuck door or bad drawer. I'm pretty handy with computers and technology so I can probably find the problem and maybe even fix it!

Countries I’ve Visited

England, France, India, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, Sri Lanka, United States
