Overview
About Me
I'm a community organizer and folk musician who was working in Seattle and DC training youth on climate advocacy when severe illness caused me to radically revolutionize the way I live on this planet in this body. Now in Joshua Tree, California, I'm looking to form community with more people who are passionate about healing our bodies and Earth. I organize concert and poetry events that raise awareness about the ties between human and environmental health issues. I'm a community-supported songwriter on Patreon.com/kph - I'm so lucky that my fans pay me a monthly income of donations in exchange for me posting 2 new songs every month, and that allows me to "work" from anywhere. Yay crowd-sourcing and gift economy and community building!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The fun yet complicated part of my life is that I have Environmental Illness due to a disease affecting my immune system, lungs, and nervous system. I have reactions to mold and chemicals from new paint, formaldehyde in walls, and scented laundry detergent so I have to be kind of careful where I sleep. When I was healthy and renting an apartment I used to love hosting people - I love having guests and learning things from people and broadening the complex global community available to all of us. It would be amazing if I could find someone who would be willing to let me sleep in my van or trailer and park outside their house or on their property and plug into power. I can pay or trade as well! I appreciate any hospitality in whatever form and am so glad Couchsurfing exists!
Interests
I like to play music (banjo, baritone ukulele, piano and singing), take videos and interview strangers, watch youtube videos of goats, play with real goats and dogs, go on hikes with ferns, and I'm obsessed with orca whales.
My favorite feeling in the world is sitting outside in a forest after a good card game, snuggling in sleeping bags, and slipping into a lullaby with a 3rd or 4th part harmony.
