About Me

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the bush in north Tas with wild wallabies and trees around my house. A couple of years ago I moved to Hobart, in the south of Tasmania, to begin studying at uni. I study plant science and zoology.

I started rock climbing soon after I moved. I've met some amazing people and been to some great places through rock climbing.

I took some time off uni during 2010. I volunteered on some research and environmental projects. The most memorable involved spending 4 weeks on remote Norfolk and Philip Islands in the South Pacific, and 3 weeks in the beautiful Furneaux Islands, in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and the Australian Mainland. Late in 2010 I went on exchange to Portugal, to Coimbra.

PHILOSOPHY

Be respectful of other living things. Try not to cause suffering. Try to be compassionate and humble, often do not succeed. Listen, be aware. Discover the truth. At the moment, I often wonder, what is true? What is the way to be? How is the way to live?

Interests

Bush walking, photography, rock climbing, reading, music, people, the environment, travel, learning, cooking (and eating!). History, architecture. I love language and words. Organic food. Sustainability.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Abseiled from Northern Buttress, high on Mt Wellington, through a gap in interlocking blocks of dolerite, down into a dusty, vaulted cave, and out into the sunlight again. Gone into the high places in Tasmania. These are places that move the spirit and speak to something deeper than words. In their intensity of being they speak for the need for preservation, that something remain whole. Met honest and generous people who give me hope in humanity.

Teach, Learn, Share

Bits and pieces: moussaka, trad climbing basics, ukelele.
