Overview
About Me
I grew up in a beautiful small town in Malaysia. I'm Chinese, although I'm rather tanned that sometimes people think I don't look very Chinese. (I love the sun although I hate sweating)
I started attending drawing classes at the age of 5, I wanted to be a painter/artist. After watching too much of America's Next Top Model, I wanted to be someone that captures those beautiful images, and so I picked up my camera at the age of 16 and learned photography and digital imaging on my own to express certain thoughts I couldn't put into words. Since then I never looked back, I came to Singapore at the age of 18 to study Fashion Communication, and I specialised in photography. I'm still constantly finding meanings in what I do, or how to use my skill to help the society.
Traveling has been a big thing for me. My family tries to go to different countries/places every year since I was 7, so I got to travel a little. And then I took part in youth exchange programme, not once or twice, but thrice, to New Zealand (at 17), South Africa (at 19) and Italy (at 21). I was hosted by different families during all the trips and they all were the best trips I've had.
I'd like to think that I'm friendly, I love talking and finding out about all the new people I meet. And I love love love trying out new food! (I can't guarantee I'll like all of them, but I'd make sure I try them!)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don't see the joy in staying in a hotel while traveling to places alone, and going out without knowing any locals or being able to experience the life of the locals. Ultimately I think the only way to experience different culture is to stay with the locals, eat what they eat and see/do what they do. I love meeting new people from different places to exchange stories (better yet, while eating some good local food!)
Interests
I love meeting new people and finding out about their stories/cultures. That being said, I'm still someone who enjoys some time alone to recharge.
I enjoy running, hiking and cycling more than a day spent in the shopping mall.
I love trying out new food and learning how to pronounce their names.

Teach, Learn, Share
Whenever I travel, there's nothing physical I feel I could give to express my appreciation. So I always make portraits of people I live with, little things and moments in their life without them noticing. Sometimes a moment captured can be cherished long after the moment was gone. So if you don't mind, I'd love to take some portraits of you and your home, life, food!
Or I could teach you some photography (although I don't think I'm excellent in all the technical part of photography or cameras) and also some language - Chinese or Malay! I could also share with you some nice places in South East Asia if you're interested in. I can play a little bit of ukulele, mostly just for myself to sing with, but I could perhaps help a little... :)
While in exchange, I'd like to learn a bit of the language you speak, or the history of the place you stay/know, I'm sure that will make my trip much more meaningful than just seeing all the beautiful buildings.
