About Me

*All to be read in a smokey Australian Accent*

A traveler on the road for 20 months now I was living in hostels throughout the UK and Europe for 18 months. I lived and worked in England as a bartender enjoying lots of nights with locals and the riff raff from outside of town.

I hopped over to Mexico two months ago, for the first month I studied under a 'Guru' about spirituality. For the second I volunteered at an adventure company on the west coast of Mexico, learning to surf, stand up paddle board and mountain bike.

I love playing music with pals and jamming for the sake of a good time. I like to joke around a lot and enjoy creating music videos or creating any kind of videos that are goofy, serious or energetic :).

I enjoy talking about anything as long as one of us is passionate about it. If you're into something and want to teach people about it then I'm all ears, in that sense to I love having a good conversation! My favourite topics are science, history, philosophy, music and sociology. Most of the topics are usually intertwined with one another; for instance, how music changed through history and made it's impact on society in the 60s/ 70s.

I'm also about to embark on my first attempt to hitchhike through the USA so any advice on do or don'ts is totally welcomed! :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Going through a big house phase. Enjoying the fringes of progressive house and checking out how cultures identify with their music. My favourite style to play on guitar is usually blues, folk, classic rock and anything in between. I like to goof around sometimes by doing gangsta-rap covers to acoustic tunes or free styling just for a laugh.

I've really started enjoy film in the past five years, some of my favourites include; Apocalypse Now, Trainspotting, Step Brothers, Waking Life, Dead Poets Society and Goodwill Hunting. I love a dark comedy too, Relatos Salvajes is a wicked dark comedy from Argentina (check it out :) )

I'm a pretty slow reader can be roped into a good book if I find one. 1984, Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 were all super interesting. Catch 22 is a good read as well as The Utopia Experiment is super interesting; it reflects on a man's attempt to create a completely sustainable community in Scotland and how some things worked out super well and other ideas completely nose dived.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's been a few; learning to surf on Mexicos west coast, visiting Hitler's Getaway House in the Austrian Alps, working during Edinburgh's Cultural Festival, seeing Berlin's nightlife, playing with musicians in Brighton and Edinburgh, camping in a camper van in Portugal but hmm probably walking the El Camino in Spain, that was a wicked experience as you hike through the country side and across the length of Spain. You meet a big range of people and it can be pretty intense at times but super rewarding.

Oh also to my American friends; I got super sick in the States five years ago, when they x-rayed me they found this big lesion of flesh in my right lung. Long story short I had to fly home (to Australia) in a small jet pressurised at sea level. It was such a cool experience, we hoped across the US from New Jersey -> South Dakota -> Washington -> Alaska -> Hawaii -> Marshall Islands -> Solomon Islands then Sydney.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching and learning are great!

Teachings a pretty noble thing to get into, after all this time travelling I find conversations that teach me something are super valuable. I like quirky history; for instance Lithuania and Poland were once a commonwealth that was the largest empire in Europe at one point - that's awesome! I like to listen to other people's perspective on how we should live today; sustainability, awareness about oneself, attitudes of societies today.

I was studying Quantum Physics at university so I enjoy a good science chat or teaching a thing or two. I also studied biochemistry, maths and like to learn about philosophy in my spare time. There's loads of cool information on YouTube; 'Half as Interesting', 'School of Life' and 'Potential History' are all cool channels that are educational and engaging.

I've taught people how to play guitar and have a fun time teaching people how to make cocktails. I like to learn different types of meditations

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do actually enjoy cooking, having a beer or glass of wine and hanging out. People that host are generous in spirit by default so it's easy to drive in on interesting conversation - also I'm not that bad at doing the dishes!

I guess I've mentioned most of the things I can share with hosts already, I can teach guitar, a thing or two about quantum physics, biochemistry, maths, meditation, eastern mysticism, making cocktails and most importantly good company. I'm pretty chatty but also am cool with having quiet time too, if I'm with people then I like it when people are flowing in conversation. I found that lovingly made food, wine and a little more is a great recipe for warm and good company. I can cook and recommend spirits that go well with meals. I'm happy to help with house chores and go grocery shopping etc.

I could go on forever about history and the places I've visited while travelling. Most of the time I like to share these experiences so it may inspire other people to visit those places one day. Also explore the idea of how social attitudes are so different depending on the country and culture. It's pretty fascinating to question the idea of what's right or wrong depending on the people you're surrounded by :), all talked about with the intention of opening the mind to new ideas :D.
