About Me
Hi there!
We’re Kai & Kat, a couple of tattoo artists from Taiwan and Japan, currently traveling through Italy. We’re passionate about tattoos, art, travel, and meeting kind-hearted people along the way.
We’ll be in Como from September 3–5 for a tattoo convention at Lariofiere. If you love tattoo art, we’d be happy to meet, share stories, or even offer a small tattoo as a creative exchange!
After the convention, we don’t have fixed plans. If you’re open to hosting us, we’d love to visit your city, explore the local culture, and share meaningful experiences.
We travel light, respect space, and enjoy connecting through conversation, meals, and cultural exchange.
Looking forward to meeting warmhearted locals and discovering Italy together!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve always loved traveling, and in recent years I’ve been attending tattoo conventions in different countries. Whenever possible, I like to stay a bit longer to experience local life—not just as a visitor, but as someone who connects with the people, culture, and everyday rhythm of a place.
Couchsurfing feels like the perfect way to do that. Not only does it help with travel expenses, it also allows me to meet locals, build real friendships, and share meaningful exchanges. I’m always happy to offer what I can in return—whether it’s a tattoo, teaching a skill, cooking a meal, or simply sharing stories and good conversation.
One day, I hope to host others in my own home country and return the kindness. I believe Couchsurfing is more than just a platform—it’s a beautiful community based on trust, generosity, and curiosity.
I’ve had some of the best travel memories through connecting with strangers who quickly became friends.
Interests
I have a deep passion for everything creative, active, and human-centered. I love collecting and learning different musical instruments—especially drums—and enjoy jamming with people from all walks of life. I’m a big fan of outdoor adventures: I dive, I snowboard, and I’m always up for hiking, camping, or just being in nature.
I’m also a tattoo artist, and I find endless inspiration in art, culture, and personal stories. I enjoy meaningful conversations about philosophy, psychology, and life experiences. When I travel, I love exploring local food, learning about people’s daily lives, and exchanging knowledge—whether it’s a new skill, a perspective, or just a funny story that makes us both laugh.
My wife is a professional tattoo artist too—she’s been invited to tattoo conventions across Europe and is sponsored by several brands. She’s also incredibly talented at singing and creating beautiful handmade jewelry. Sometimes she even offers small tattoos to people we meet on the road.
Books and films are a huge part of my life. I’m drawn to stories about self-discovery, adventure, and the mysteries of the universe. I believe every encounter teaches us something, and I’m always curious to learn more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all kinds of music—seriously, everything. I’m passionate about sound and rhythm, and I have a bit of a habit when it comes to collecting musical instruments. I enjoy learning to play different ones, and I can play a little bit of almost everything—especially the drum kit, which I really love.
When it comes to books, I’m drawn to topics like adventure, psychology, and personality types. Anything that helps me understand people or the human experience better grabs my attention.
As for movies, I’m a big fan of Christopher Nolan’s work. I really enjoy sci-fi and space-themed films too—anything that stretches the imagination and explores deeper layers of reality.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quitting my job at Apple after 3 years to travel around Europe with a backpack, then starting over as a tattoo artist with my wife in Beijing—it was scary, but it led to the most meaningful chapter of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to work as a scuba diving guide, so I’m comfortable connecting with people and helping them feel safe and curious in new environments. I’m also passionate about snowboarding and love teaching beginners—it’s always rewarding to see someone take their first ride down the slope.
I enjoy sharing the mindset and values I learned while working at Apple, especially around creativity, attention to detail, and human-centered thinking. I’m always happy to exchange knowledge—whether it’s life hacks, good design, meaningful ideas, or little things that improve daily life.
As a tattoo artist, I’m also open to doing tattoo exchanges with hosts if they’re interested—it’s a unique way to leave a memory behind. I love learning from local culture, languages, and everyday habits—whether it’s how you brew coffee, how your family cooks, or what your city sounds like in the morning.
For me, every moment is a chance to teach, learn, and share something real.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned through my travels, work, and passions. I can offer tattoo designs or even a small tattoo if you’re open to it, teach you basic Japanese, and play music—I collect instruments and especially love drums. I also enjoy cooking and would love to prepare some dishes from my home country (Taiwan) for you.
If you need help with driving or getting around, I’m happy to assist. I’ve worked in many different fields, from Apple to diving, and I enjoy meaningful conversations, cultural exchange, and sharing stories or perspectives from my adventures. I always treat my hosts with respect, kindness, and bring along a good dose of humor and positive energy.
