About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero
ABOUT ME
I'm a professor at the Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceara, Brazil, where I teach Computer Science (more specifically, Software Engineering). Before that, I started many things, such as Music, Diplomacy and Electrical Engineering. Once I made up my mind, I decided to follow an academic career and finished a master course in Japan and a PhD and a Post-Doc in France.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is plenty of shallow things to do (look around and you'll see zillions of them - example? Watch TV around the clock and then ask yourself the next day what you got...). Write these things off and you'll come down to the things in life that are really worth it. Among the ones that count, I'd include visiting new places, meeting new people, chatting with friends, learning everything you can - and using this knowledge to help others -, windsurfing (yeah, I know, that was too biased...) and playing the guitar (or any other instrument). And I see in couchsurfing a damn good means of achieving many of these fulfilling things. So, carpe diem - life is too short and I don't believe we have more than one - and try to leave your "comfort zone" from time to time, for most rewarding things lie outside of it.
Interests
When I'm not giving lectures or doing research, you will most likely find me with a guitar in my arms or on a windsurf board.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is my life. I love (to listen and to play) Brazilian Pop Music, choro, jazz, blues and classic music. Favorite movie: The Fabulous Bakerboys (there's good music and Michelle Pfeiffer in it...what else could you ask for?). Favorite book: On the Origin of Species (Darwin). Favorite piece of music: St Matthew Passion (Bach)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Although none of them can be considered awe-inspiring heart-stirring experiences, I really enjoyed them: jumping into freezing water in Oulu (Finland), playing the guitar at sunset in Jericoacoara, a trip in the desert of Sahara, getting lost in the alleys from Kyoto, skiing in the Alpes, promenading along the river Seine, riding a buggy in the dunes of Cumbuco, escalating the pyramids of Teotihuacan, hang-gliding from the top of Pedra Bonita, walking on the Perito Moreno glaciar, strolling in the rice fields of Bali, jumping from the Insano, the highest water slide in the world, travelling from Atacama desert in Chile to Uyuni salar in Bolivia across the Andes mountain range, etc.
Teach, Learn, Share
Things I like: playing the guitar (6 and 7 strings), windsurfing, computers, speaking languages. In any of them, I got much to teach/share and much more to learn.
