About Me

I am an optimistic, energetic and adventurous 26 year old Australian female who has a desire to travel the world filling my years with great memories and experiences with even greater people in incredible places. I am the eldest in my family with a younger brother of whom I'm very close to. I grew up on a large farm just outside a small country town in New South Wales and have been working since the age of 13 working as a waitress, bartender, retail assistant and an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN). I have been highly involved in sports since a young age, I currently play Womens Rugby Union, Touch Football, Athletics and Muay Thai. I usually spend about 6 months working in Australia to save enough to travel for the next 6-8 months. I have spent the last 6 months living and working in Ios, Greece, of which I met some truely incredible people and learnt about the Greek culture and language. I believe this world is an incredible place and couldn't imagine getting to your elder years wishing you had done more whilst you had the chance,
"It's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since graduating High School I have backpacked Europe Solo for 8 months, worked in Vegas for 2 months and lived in Greece, these 2 years have been filled with amazing experiences of which have fuelled my desire to travel even more.
I started out couch surfing as a cheap accomodation option, since travelling using couchsurfing for some time now I have come to learn that it offers a travel experience that no Hostel or air bnb could ever offer you; a local insight into the culture and ultimately the best travel experience you can possibly get. I have had some of the greatest times on couch surfing purely because of the hosts I have stayed with and the knowledge and experiences they have shared with me. It is obviously a big thing to offer your personal space and home to a stranger and I believe that's why so many positive relationships are created through couch surfing as there is a degree of trust exchanged right from accepting a person to stay with you. It would be my greatest pleasure to offer my house up to someone that has hosted me and in turn exchange my local knowledge and hopefully make it a travel experience that they themselves will not forget.

Interests

I grew up playing a variety of sports and they have always been a big part of my life, both team and individual. I currently play Womens Rugby Union, Netball, Touch Football and Muay Thai as well as Yoga and Pilates. I've been lucky enough to learn new sports through travelling such as Bocce which I learnt whilst in Greece.
I have a large interest in Charitable Organisations particularly Kidney Health Australia. My family have been supported by this organisation for quite some time now and bi-annually my family runs a fundraiser of some sort to give back to an organisation that has given so much to us.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music plays a large part in my life, weather it be in the form of a music festival, music to run to or an outlet for emotion. I don't have a particular favourite genre, my iTunes library ranges from Rap Artists like Tupac to Soul such as Bon Iver or Alternative like Fidlar to Keith Urban and other Country artists. Some of my favourite music festivals I have attended include Sziget Festival, Tomorrowland, Ultra and the majority of the Australian festivals.

Once again I don't have a particular type of favourite genre for movies I enjoy most movies. Some favourites however would be: Racing Extinction,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I couchsurfed in 2015 in the top of the Swiss Alps, I was told very little about the house etc was just told that it was a 'holiday house' so I was expecting quite an extravagant house. I arrived to realise you couldn't even get there by car however had to hike up the mountain through a trail eventually arriving to Jojo (my host) cooking our dinner on a fire. The house was over 10 generations old, no hot water, no electricity, you literally had to forage for foods and collect your own wood for the fire to cook food. At first I was dreading the coming few days, within a few hours I helped collect food for dinner, we went stand up paddle boarding, hiking through the alps to secluded waterfalls and I even cooked a version of an Australian meat pie. Overall I had the most amazing 5 days of my life and all without a phone or any electrical device, was an experience I won't forget anytime soon.

Teach, Learn, Share

Education is one of my highest values, I believe education and knowledge is the greatest gift someone can offer you. I am always up for learning whatever it may be, I have found through travelling simply listening to people you can learn so much, learning about other cultures especially or sharing experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope that I can give hosts a little projection into my life and personality hoping that I can leave a place slightly better then when I entered. I like to think of myself as a bubbly, optimistic person, even if it is just a smile at the end of the day I'm happy i've influenced them in some small way. I'm very flexible with jobs, i'm happy to help with housework after all with over 6 years working in hospitality I hope I can wash a dish or two. I am both a good listener and speaker and love a good story, I'm the least pickiest eater you will meet (yes I even eat brussel sprouts) and I can kind of cook. I enjoy majority of hobbies weather it be partying or relaxing you name it, I'll do it, at the end of the day I'm just here to enjoy the opportunity I have to travel and to do so in the company of a willing host.
