About Me

Hello! My name is Kaitlin and I'm from the great state of Utah. In 2015 I returned from a 2-month backpacking trip in Europe and I'm still on Cloud Nine. I'm a type-B homebody at heart, and having never traveled outside the USA before, this adventure was a big jump for me. Now I can safely say I've been bitten by the travel bug and I'm itching to go wander again. In the meantime, I work and I play and occasionally ponder the universe.

Interests

I'm most at home in the woods, on top of a mountain, or on the water. I love being outside whenever I can, occasionally with a beer in hand. I want to learn how to play drums and maybe someday own a motorcycle. I'm great with animals and small children. Same thing, right? I enjoy being around people and sharing stories but I equally love being alone and spending time with myself (I'm very good company). I get bored pretty easily if I'm not learning anything new, so recently I did what any normal human would do and took up lessons for computer coding. Also, Norwegian. Knowledge!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a closet metal-head but my soul belongs to the blues. On my iPod you'll find anything from Black Sabbath to Kendrick Lamar to music from the Russian Red Army Choir. Thanks to my love of dark humor, these days I will read anything by David Sedaris. The man is a genius. Tarantino and Mel Brooks films are very near and dear to my heart. Also, I'm a sucker for a good horror story---I watched The Shining at age 10 and never looked back.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got to experience the crazy beauty of the snowy Swiss Alps in Gimmelwald, which was also a complete accident. My best friend and I happened to be in the right place at the right time in Lauterbrunnen, and were given free lodging by a pair of wonderful Canadians. Our tram ride into the clouds was unreal---I remember thinking to myself that I could die right then and be completely happy.
