HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed for the first time last summer while backpacking in Europe and had a wonderful time! I haven't had a chance to host anyone in Edmonton yet, but have the space now and am excited to meet some fellow CSers, learn about how others around the world live, and share some of how I live, some music, food, stories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with four CSers while traveling in Europe last year and was blown away by their hospitality. When I go visit Ontario, I usually find friends or friends of friends to couchsurf with while I'm there, so that sort of counts too :)

I love figuring out wonderful things to do in a city from someone who lives there, really get a feel for the town and live as locals do. And I think this is an incredible way to facilitate that - you get such a different experience than staying in a hostel, campsite or hotel.

兴趣

I love yoga and pilates. I pretend to love running. I volunteer a lot, for a few different things close to my heart. I love my dog. i'm interested in microlending. I take guitar lessons and am slowly becoming pretty rock'n'roll. I also love to travel. I finished my second trip to Europe last summer, and am heading to Paris for three weeks this July!

I love music and it is a huge part of my life. I listen to it, I make it and I share it. I especially love: ani difranco, the beatles, bedouin soundclash, ben kweller, black box recorder, damien rice, david bowie, depeche mode, the dresden dolls, feist, hawksley workman, israel kamakawiwo'ole, jack johnson, james blunt, john mayer, neutral milk hotel, our lady peace, philosopher kings, rilo kiley, rob dougan, sheryl crow, squeeze, stereophonics, wilco......it goes on ;)

I watch a lot of movies and enjoy most genres, although tend to steer clear of really violent ones.

I try to read a lot and some of my favourites are 100 years of solitude, the giver, life of pi, the handmaid's tale and anything by paulo coelho

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went camping in the Rocky Mountains during the Canada day long weekend a few years ago. Being surrounded by the mountains, northern lights, mounted police while watching fireworks was a truly 'Canadian' moment.

SCUBA diving around the reef in Mexico was also a pretty incredible experience.

I would love to learn some more languages. I'm not naive enough to think this can be done in two months of couchsurfing, but I would love to pick up a bit of the language wherever I stay, and really get a feel for the culture and the way people live.

As for sharing...I can share many stories of my own life and of Canada. I have traveled much of the country, so can answer hopefully lots of questions about it. I can share some food, music, life goals. That's all life really is, isn't it...teaching, learning and sharing..
