ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Kai Wen, a college student from Taichung, Taiwan. To explore Taiwan, and to introduce this beautiful island to the world is a dream I’ m always chasing for.

When I was a freshman 3 years ago, I started to save money and travel abroad by myself in summer vacation. The first amazing experience was visiting UK. From then on, I could’t help but falling in love with planning &traveling by myself.

2 years ago, I traveled around Taiwan by bicycle. During the riding, I saw the beautiful island in different point of view. The scenic is so spectacular that I totally forgot the tiredness cycling 100km per day in the trip.

Last year, I participated in an international volunteering workcamp to the orphanage in Mongolia. From the workcamp, I had a wonderful time with the kids and I met different people all around the world. Being with then made me know more about different culture and lifestyle. Thanks to the Internet, many of the members in the workcamp and I still keep in touch now.

I am now a fourth-year student majoring in Medicine and still have 3 years of clerk life. I stay in the dormitory with several roommates, so I can't provide a couch right now. But I would like to help anyone to know more about Taiwan. It would be exciting to make new friends and introduce Taiwan to the world. ^_^

BTW,I start to rent my bike and the equipment in lower price to the girls who want to travel around Taiwan but don't have enough money to buy new bikes or rent bikes from famous chain stores. If you want to travel around Taiwan by bicycle, contact me!^_^

My current mission is to explore the mid&eastern Europe in my last summer vacation.

I have applied for an student exchange program to Slovakia for 1 month, which is organized by "organization The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA)." The exchange program is a educational and cultural experience that is organized entirely by medical students, with the help of the medical faculties. In that time, I will have the chance to attend a clerkship for 4 weeks in the department of Pediatrics in University Hospital Martin, Slovakia. The exchange will start in August and I am really exciting about that.^_^

Three weeks before the clerkship, I will visit Germany, Czech and Austria with my friends and sister. The flight tickets, train tickets and the accommodation are arranged already.

After the clerkship, I'm planing to visit Budapest and Wien before going back to Taiwan. I think it is a good chance to couchsurf for the first time. I am really exciting for the good experience which is going to happened in this summer.:D

I heard about CouchSurfing before, but never give a try for it. After reading some inspiring stories on the internet few days ago, I decided to join CS and made it become part of my life from this year!

CS provides a great way to make my dream easier to come true. I hope that I will learn more from all the surfer on this website and on the journey. :)
