About Me
Hi hello and moin moin, as we say in Northern Germany!
I’ve recently returned from California to Germany after spending eight years living in Santa Barbara. Slowly getting adjusted to Europe again, though I miss the desert of Southern California!
After completing my Ph.D. in Film Studies, I started work doing communications and public relations for a city in Germany and am still trying to figure out if I should devote more time to my yoga instructor training, my art business (mostly imaginary), trying to get back into academia, or simply riding the waves of life.
My two bunnies are probably my biggest passion and I am considered by my friends a helicopter bunny mom. That’s okay, they are probably right.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I haven’t CouchSurfed in a while, so I’m curious and a little nervous to get back to this way of traveling. Looking forward to hosting people and being hosted! :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Everything that makes me sing or makes me dance, makes me laugh or makes me cry.
More specifically, music:
- Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, Melanie Safka, Cat Stevens, Pete Segall (I am an old soul as my mom likes to say)
- but also techno and whompy music to dance to (which I am terrible at but do anyway every once in a while)
Movies:
- admittedly, my favorite film might forever be Donnie Darko. It has bunnies, sleep walking, alternate dimensions, 1980s music, and Jake Gyllenhall! What more could you want from a film?!
- also a fan of Twin Peaks, the original Watership Down, and Bojack Horseman
Books:
- I have to read so much for work that I don't read enough for pleasure. If I do, I torture myself with Aldous Huxley's brilliant works. Recently read Frank Herbert's Dune for the first time which was lovely.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most memorable and out of this worldly travel experience was probably road tripping for five weeks through France and Italy in a tiny Ford Fiesta with three of my friends (I have no idea how we even fit ourselves and our stuff in that car), enjoying the great wines, cheese, hikes, and river gorges in the region. And seeing the milky way for the first time - growing up in Germany, there was always too much light pollution to see it...
Teach, Learn, Share
When you come visit me, I will share with you my favorite hiking spots, hot springs, and beaches. And always have a can of freshly brewed tea going.
What I Can Share with Hosts
When I am hosted by you, I can share with you my crazy traveling and Burning Man stories, teach you German (if that is something you would really want to do - it's hard), and share a bunch of random knowledge about things like history and art and did I mention, bunnies? Depending on my time constraints, I can also make German potato salad. I am very low maintenance and clean up after myself, obviously :)
