I'm a researcher, working in (critical) urban studies and transport. Have you ever used / heard of free public transport? Ha, I wrote my PhD about it. Ok, that hardly works as a conversation starter.

I try to be serious about the world rather than myself. I appreciate irony. People say I do a lot, but I suppose I'm just curious about the world.

I travel a lot, both for work and fun. Anything goes, from a three month backpacking/hithchiking trip to a short weekend city-trip. I try to stick with CS, human contact will always win over ho(s)tels.

Music is important to me, I like to listen to new genres and records, although I occassionally return to some of my favourites (see below). I (used to) play the piano, mostly classical and improvised music. I'm also into photography, learning how to play with some old manual lenses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started in 2008, full of enthusiasm and energy. It's all faded away with the new pricing policy... But I'm still here, at least for now.
