About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Soak it all up

ABOUT ME

Having traveled a bit I think I feel like settling down for a while. Get a job, buy a house, garden and throw dinner parties. Err, how about I not do any of that and go to South Africa for the World Cup. Yeah!

I am in transition at the moment, feeling the urge to get steady but not quite just yet having enough motivation to put all the pieces together.

Welcome me into your home and I will be greatful for all the world's bounty and cherish the chance to share merry yarns along with the shelter.

PHILOSOPHY

One foot in idealism gives me purpose and meaning and the other in existentialism helps me cope with the absurdity that is this life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I am just a surfer but the glorious day will come when I have a place of my own where I can welcome ambitious travelers... some day...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed a bit in Holland and Denmark. Such a good thing.

Interests

I study transportation and energy systems through my brand new mechanical engineering goggles. Electric vehicles and pedal power helps me to go to sleep at night. I also like long walks on the beach at sunset and just about anywhere else, playing soccer, cooking and eating slow food, and when the time is right, partying.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Tron, Little Shop of Horrors, Wes Anderson movies make me happy
Books: Foundation and Mars trilogies
Science fiction books and movies are big winners for me. Gabriel Garcia Marques has also enamored me from a very different angle. I have recently been reading up on Global Warming, interesting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

An effort I am particularly proud of is my participation in the Davis Community Bike Church, a volunteer run bike shop that empowers people to fix their own bike. Starting with the simple purpose of fixing bikes we made a first class community building center.

Teach, Learn, Share

My education and profession is in energy and transportation specifically hybrid and electric vehicles and batteries. I also have significant experience with community living and consensus.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Spain, Tanzania, Uganda

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, United States
