ABOUT ME

I am most at home looking through my camera, a lovely old nikon. Hearing that shutter click brings me into the moment more than anything else.

i sing and play guitar a bit, mostly in the park on a sunny day or curled up with a blanket.

i am a shy but friendly person, and i smile often. i like to watch people, because i find them very interesting. sometimes i stare which most people find odd. i'm always up for a nap or a good meal... even if i'm not tired or hungry!

i'm one of those peace-loving, tree-climbing, photo-taking, cookie-eating, star-gazing, face-making, guitar-playing, world-traveling kinda types. i believe in strange things. i'm a night person and a morning person, which can be tiring. i am not afraid of spiders but i am afraid of sharks. to be fair though, they're pretty terrifying and i'm sure i look very appetizing when i'm flailing about in the waves. i draw most of my energy from the sun (working on perfecting the art of photosynthesis). i am going to see the world. i have lots of freckles and i hope to grow many, many more.

PHILOSOPHY

I hate wasting time. I want to fill my life with new experiences, meet new people, see new people. See, there's a whole world out there and I can't imagine limiting myself to one place.

Went to a food festival with my hosts, ate more than could possibly be considered healthy or normal.

Napped with host kitty.

Ate many, many tapas.

Surfed in a cave-house in Morocco!

THRILLER dance in Granada, blowing bubbles on the roof and taking polaroids, stuck in the vibe.

Chillin to the max, everywhere I've been.

oh there's so much out there. here's a tiny sampling.

books: The Little Prince has become quite a travel companion for me, and I collect copies in the language of each country I visit... if I can't learn every language in the world (seems a bit time-consuming) maybe he can!

music: Regina Spektor, Tom Waits, Ray Lamontagne, Brett Dennen, oldies and goodies, bossa nova (especially Joao Gilberto, my musical inspiration), cheesy 70's or 80's dance music especially of the Italian variety...

a live jazz concert, always, always. i don't understand jazz theory but i always get taken over by good jazz. mmm. percussion. drum circles. anything that inspires me to dance so much that i forget i'm bad at it :)

movies: too many favorites, i am definitely a movie buff. old black and whites. audrey, humphrey. ooh la la! funnies. weirds. foreign, never dubbed. i am 100% anti-dubbing. it should be internationally forbidden. not a fan of high-powered action movies or horror, unless they offer me something more. james bond is always wonderful, though... he's bond, so he can pull it off.

Woke up on an Italian beach just in time to watch the sun rise.

Moved to Italy. Moved to Portugal. Moved to London.

Sang with an incredible choir in several Spanish cathedrals.

Spent a summer working on farms in Italy.

I can speak Italian! Well, sort of... I know all the swear words and most of the food words. I can have a pretty interesting conversation and order more wine, so the basics are covered. Anyway, I'm more than willing to share what I know!

I'm an expert at making daisy chains.

I can also solve a rubiks cube but none of that 10 second crap. I need at least a good 5 minutes, and sometimes I fail miserably.

Things I'd like to learn include...
tap dance, juggling, sign language, stick shift, harmonica, cartwheel. sometimes i get the uncontrollable urge to do a cartwheel but don't know now. i usually try and flop over, sometimes hurting myself or those around me! haha!

if you can do any of these things well and are willing to teach me, i'll take the couch and you can have a nice comfy bed!! ;)
