About Me
Hey Couchsurfers!
This May I am/will have graduated from my undergraduate program at The University of Southern California in Gender Studies. As I tried to figure out what my next steps would be, the major concerns were finding a new community to explore and getting to explore our incredible Earth, which brought me here.
After a brief stay in Paris doing a writing intensive, I'll be out and adventuring and hoping to meet new friends, mentors and explorers. All this being said, financially I have saved and saved, but would love to be able to invest this money in the experience of traveling and enjoying cities rather than on accommodations where possible, it would be my pleasure to couch surf with you!
I'm from Philadelphia originally, but have been living in LA for the last 5 years. Pronouns are he/him/his or they/them. I love this world and all its eccentricities, hoping to get to see as much as I can while I'm here.
I'm endlessly amazed at human connection and the threads that hold all of us together, and hope in my life to find ways of strengthening these bonds especially when it comes to finding ways to fight the oppression of so many groups today. I love: reading, writing, drawing, listening to music, acting/theatre, dance, movies, cooking/eating food, hiking and all things nature, skiing, swimming, hanging out with friends, learning new things (!), and good long (or short) talks.
In my travels, I want to experience as much art as I can and learn about artistic traditions from different cultures. I consider myself very open minded and willing to try most things.
I want to continue my process of engaging critically with my immense privilege and using it to actively dismantle oppressive structures and learn from/support folks who don't have the same privilege as me. Gender Studies has been such an amazing academic space to begin this work and I hope to continue fighting for human rights everyday as best I can.
Right now, I don't have a living arrangement that can allow couch surfers (I'm giving up my lease in May to travel and hopefully land in Berlin), but I'll start hosting if I move to a final place with some space!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To join a community of kind, curious and open people! In hopes of traveling/exploring the world while benefiting from the community and kindness of a radical network of people who want to meet new folks and encounter new ideas. I want to both push myself to see the places I've dreamed of without having to limit myself due to the financial restrictions of hostels/hotels and get to meet locals who can teach me about their experiences and point me towards their favorite spots.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am an audiophile through and through, raised in a family of Jazz musicians, I've been exposed to music in a variety of forms for as long as I can remember. These days my tastes are truly all over the place and I am always looking to explore new genres/artists. Some of my all time favorites include: D'Angelo, Fleet Foxes, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Wye Oak, Janelle Monae, Sarah Vaughan, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Unkown Mortal Orchestra, Grizzly Bear, Hiatus Kaiyote, Blood Orange, Solange -- and many many more!
My taste in movies also varies widely, I love film and storytelling and can get down with most anything (terrible movies have a very special place in my heart). Recent tops: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Spirited Away, Moonlight, The Shape of Water, Kill Bill, Jackie Brown (and the rest of Q.T. canon), The Prestige, There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine
Books are another one of my lifetime loves, I'll read anything you throw my way. Some authors I really jive with: Toni Morrison, Shirley Jackson, Octavia Butler, Donna Tartt, Kurt Vonnegut, Wanda Coleman, Mary Ruefle, Arthur Sze and Cordelia Fine
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My favorite of the last 6 months has got to be a camping trip to the Sea of Cortez in Baja California last winter. While only a weekend long, I will take this trip to my grave! Had the pleasure of being accompanied by two of my oldest friends and was so warmly welcomed into the incredible culture and landscape of B.C., Mexico. Cannot highly enough recommend visiting!!
What I Can Share with Hosts
A love of learning, a variety of stories/facts/questions I've picked up along my journey, laughter and a good sense of humor, a well trained and courteous clean-up aficionado, if you want some drawings done I'm your person (and would love to practice), thought provoking discussion/a genuine curiosity to get to know you better and to see the world through your eyes/experience.
