About Me
Young, pretty, single...just kidding. I do like to throw a bit of humor into my life. Born and raised in the OC, I just graduated from Chapman University with a degree in film producing and I love traveling. I'm also an avid photographer who loves capturing the beauty of a place more than shopping for gifts or hunting down the best restaurants in town (although I'm not saying I don't like good food, esp. homemade meals.) I'm looking for new adventures and new friendships wherever I go. I like cats and dogs, good books, good music, great hikes, and only the best of friendships.
When I'm not on the road I work a normal job and a not-so-normal job. My normal day job is at a preschool in Santa Ana where I work with blind and sighted kids doing things that all kids do. It's really fun and I've been in it for two years now. My not-so-normal job is selling popsicles all over Orange County with a company who prides in providing happiness on a stick. I've worked stores, farmers markets, catering events for personal, corporate, and weddings. I'm always meeting new people there and I love it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This summer I've learned two things about myself: I don't like feeling like a tourist but I do like making friends with locals wherever I go. I've found that getting to know the locals and not just going around the city aiming to do whatever TripAdvisor recommends really helps me understand the culture of a place and that's what I want to learn more of when I travel. I'm also aiming to make friends across the country and the world. While I'm not in much of a position to host right now b/c of school, I would love to meet people who come my way and I hope that I can meet people in their cities as well. I'm aiming for genuine friendships here, not just becoming acquaintances for a few days.
Interests
I love photography. I would rather have 10 good shots of a city that capture how I felt about it than any souvenir. I'm also really into outdoor activities. Hiking, cycling, kayaking, golfing, Frisbee. There are some activities that I'm not into such as rock climbing, but I love to try new things! Storytelling is also a huge interest of mine. I'm a film student and I aim to tell stories from creative perspectives. I will gladly share stories of my travels or anything interesting I've done local to my home with anyone who will listen and I would love to hear others' stories, too!

Music, Movies, and Books
Ingrid Michaelson, fun. , The Catcher in the Rye, Juno, Wish I Was Here, anything Pixar, The Power of Kindness, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'll share two things. Several years ago I memorized 200 digits of Pi for a school contest. Unfortunately I only placed 2nd. I still remember a good chunk of those digits and I'll recite it for anyone who asks!
The second thing is more of an amazing experience. This summer I traveled to Ireland for eight weeks. I was fortunate enough to attend the Body and Soul festival and work there beforehand setting up. Sans Wi-Fi, I reconnected with human nature through countless conversations with people I had never met before that week, tried things I had never tried before, and made some pretty incredible connections with Irish locals. It doesn't sound that amazing, but I didn't know anyone going into that week and being a foreigner it was simultaneously a terrifying yet wonderful experience that made me remember what it's like to disconnect from the online world to connect with someone heart to heart.
Teach, Learn, Share
My favorite quote is something I don't often share with others, but it's about something I think we should all practice more: compassion.
"If you and I are open to each other, without any barriers between us, then I feel your feelings and you feel mine. I feel understood by you and you by me. If you are suffering, I want your suffering to end, and if I am suffering I know you will support me. If you are happy, I am too, and if things are going well for me, I know you are pleased. And maybe nothing more is needed.”-The Power of Kindness
I'm currently learning American Sign Language. I'll gladly share what I know with anyone who's interested in learning themselves.
I also love sharing stories. If you have a story to share, I have an ear to listen and vice versa. Storytelling is part of human nature and it's something I'd like to do more often.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share loads of stories about myself if you are the kind of person who likes to have a great conversation (especially over food.) I'm a generally clean person and I will gladly help with the upkeep of your house if you are so kind as to offer me a place to sleep. I'm really looking to make friends with locals so if you're available during the day or evening to go somewhere together or even have a cup of tea, I would love to get to know you during my time in your city. I'm a bit of an introvert but I'm working on opening myself up more to get to know people and make lasting bonds. I can also stay completely out of your way if you're a busy person (as we all are) but I really am looking to make friends if you open up your home to me or even want to meet up.
