About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Besides saving the world, I am currently trying to finish my Master's degree. Afterwards? Well, I'll most probably be unemployed. That's what you do with social sciences, right? Or marketing, but most probably unemployed.
ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, I decided to study abroad and chose the craziest, trashiest, most liberal and free minded city available in Europe - Berlin. However, until the end of January 2017 I will be enjoying sunny Lisbon and spending the money of the European tax payers (yes, I am doing Erasmus+ here).
I enjoy critical thinking, passionate debates, good beer, anti-social music, mosh pits and learning new things. I am that person who always starts discussions around politics, but I listen to your arguments and opinions and try to duscuss instead of pushing a point. I love to think of myself as a person with a good sense of humor and self-irony, but I have the feeling that saying that you have a good sense of humor is like saying that you are smart - if you have to tell people you are, you aren't. So I'll let yoy judge. I am a desperate victim of the current pop culture, so expect many references to books, movies, South Park episodes, pontless Youtube videos or just random memes on reddit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love not only to visit a country and put a check on my travels list, but to learn something more about it, to see and experience how people there live, what they think, how they see the world. CS is the best way to combine my passion for traveling with my curiousity to learn more than I would learn, if I just open a random mainstream tourist guide.
I have hosted some close and not-so-close friends at my place in Sofia and in Berlin. I have couchsurfed in Amsterdam, London and most recently on the Azores islands. After arriving in Lisbon two months ago, I started attending many couchsurfing events amd made great friends this way :)
Interests
Journalism, reading, music, culture, good jokes, social entrepreneurship ...
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Trainspotting, Kill Bill (and almost everything else from Tarantino), The Shawshank redemption ...
Music: punk, oi, hardcore, ska, Balkan funk --> The Clash, The Crass, Dropkick Murphys, Iggy Pop, H2O etc.
Books: 1984, The Little Golden Calf, almost everything from Remarque, Vonnegut, Steinbeck... I won't even start with political theory literature because the list would become endless (but Hannah Arendt ftw!) :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bungee jumping several years ago from the Klisura bridge in Bulgaria. It was a birthday present and I really enjoyed it.
Hitch-hiking from Belgrade to Sofia this year (2016) with my German flatmate. (Attention: only slav gopniks will get the next part) He knew almost all the chalga songs that the truck drivers were playing and he could even sing 'Dobro utro, pianice' - I taught him well!
I wrote my bachelor thesis in about a week (almost no sleep) and got a really good mark on it (German 1.3, which something like UK 80-85% I think). The thesis was about internet memes which makes me even more pround - I was able to spend all the time that I wanted on the Internet and I still had the excuse that I am doing an important academic research.
Teach, Learn, Share
Need some basic lessons in kick-boxing, Bulgarian/German/Russian, CSR, optimizing your social network performance or even election campaign?
Well, I have always wanted to learn the parkour blackflip, but I will be more than happy if you can just share with me some cool and funny CS stories.
