About Me

I'm a 23 year old male from Melbourne Australia, recently completed a four year degree and thought I'd see some of the world before I start working full time, so three months solo in the European summer it is!
The furthest I've gotten out of Australia was on a a week long trip to Bali with some friends which was unreal to see how other cultures and countries operate, so the thought of Europe and all it has to offer has me extremely excited for the coming months!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On the 2nd of May I touch down in Madrid, Spain, for a 3 month solo trip around Europe! Going solo is one of the most exciting things about my trip, as I believe that it is going to create the most authentic and fun experience, it will push me further to do things and meet people that I may not if I was in a group.
I have two nights booked in Madrid for when I arrive, and I go to Tomorrowland in Belgium on the 18th of July, everything in between is currently in the air in order to give me the most freedom whilst travelling as that is the type of person I am.
In my time researching and looking/hearing of others travelling experiences, I have heard nothing but good things about Couchsurfing and the positive impacts it has on everyone involved. As I'm travelling alone, Couchsurfing will allow me to meet and be in contact with true locals to properly immerse myself in the culture, which is very exciting! On top of this, I look forward to making some lifelong friends, which again, I believe Couchsurfing will provide!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is very hard to describe as I could be listening to any genre of music at any given time, from EDM, to acoustic, to indie/alternative music, rap, and even jazz! It all depends on the situation really, when I am exercising I prefer the fast paced and bouncy stuff like EDM, producers like Don Diablo and Martin Garrix are my favourites at the moment, and I'm buzzing to see them at Tomorrowland!
When I'm just chilling out at home or relaxing/driving, thats when I like to listen to the things that are more or less relaxed, like Sticky Fingers, Lumineers, Angus and Julia Stone, Middle Kids and similar artists.
If you allow me to stay with you, I would love to hear the music that you listen to!
In terms of books and movies, I'm not the most cultured person I have to admit. I do enjoy having a laugh, so comedy will go a long way with me, for example Wayne's World is an absolute classic for me. I also like documentary sort of things that I can learn from and take something away from, I recently watched a documentary on a man who climbed up a 3000 foot cliff face, with no ropes or harness, just him, how crazy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2015 I was lucky enough to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which if you're unfamiliar with it is a very large bridge in the middle of Sydney, which has become a major landmark in not only the city itself but the whole country of Australia!
I climbed it during the sunset which I think is one of the most incredible times to get a good view of anywhere, and from 134 meters off of the ground I can promise you Sydney was absolutely beautiful! I have always been a little bit hesitant and afraid when it comes to heights, so as exciting as this was, beforehand I was a little bit nervous, but I knew the experience would be worth it so I did the climb and it exceeded all expectations!
This is the sort of mindset I want to take into my Europe trip, having three months to travel and immerse myself and experience everything that Europe has to offer is once in a lifetime, and I will not be taking anything for granted!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to be able to learn about the cultures of the world and I want to hear stories and learn about the people that live within those cultures. The extent of my traveling so far has been somewhat touristy, which is still incredible, however three months solo traveling around Europe will be a whole knew experience, I want to open up to people about me and my life as well as having people open up to me and tell me their stories and about their lives and who they are.
I also intend to learn a lot about myself over this trip, and although I have no idea what I will learn at this stage, that really excites me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Most of all I want to share a great time with any host. I am a very laid back easy going person and I like to think I am easy to get along with so the least I can do is give anyone a good conversation!
I am more than happy to attempt to cook a meal in return for hosting me (I have the basic skills so forgive me if it's not a 5 star meal!), I also love to pick up any instrument and just play it, I have a guitar and keyboard at home which I play regularly, so if you own any of these I am more than happy to play some music with you!
