About Me

ABOUT ME

Although I have had very little money, I have not been afraid to work, and this is how I have traveled the world. I am living proof that if you really have a desire to do something just start doing it, and life will show you the way.

Esperanza grew up in a traditional Guatemalan village, with no road or electricity. She speaks 4 languages (2 Mayan dialects, Spanish and English). She loves music, martial arts and comedy. She adores children.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is Beautiful!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Livin the life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Prior to couchsurfing.org, I hitchhiked from Seattle to Florida, and slept on many a couch, usually paying my way by house cleaning or gardening. One time, when I was in the Bahamas,I helped a man build his house in exchange for food and shelter. In 2009 we met a very nice family through couchsurfing.org and traded baby sitting / housekeeping for a month. Because of them, we were able to travel from Florida to Oregon by bus so that Esperanza could see the country. And we just stayed with a family in Bogota, Colombia, while traveling in S. Am. Each time we stay with someone, we learn something new about ourselves and the world. What an amazing world!

Live music. Inspiring movies and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Guatemala with $200, and lived there for 6 years, where I met my wonderful wife, and many people from around the world. I just went there on faith that I could work with massage and yoga, even though I had no guaranteed job.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach yoga and massage...can teach a bit of guitar, and would like to learn more. Can share a bit of herbal medicine and would like to learn martial arts.

We have pictures of our life in Guatemala, and Esperanza has many stories about life in a Mayan village.
