Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be the person my dogs believe me to be.
ABOUT ME
I'm a mom, wife, and veterinarian who is trying to make this world a better place one family (my own) at a time! I'm funny, a little awkward, friendly, outgoing with just a touch of shyness mixed in certain situations, impatient, thoughtful, and kind.
PHILOSOPHY
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice. Know yourself well enough to understand what is really important to you, then live that life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to bring a few other open-minded, world traveling people into the fray!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I don't remember the last time I slept on a couch, which makes me wonder if I plan really well (maybe too well?), am too high maintenance (and I'm mostly fairly low maintenance) or just need to be way more spontaneous!
Interests
My family, my friends, my fabulous husband, our amazing son, our dogs & dogs in general, roller derby, music of every genre, roller coasters, trying to be a great doctor, integrative medicine, nutrition, playing volleyball & softball, killer whales, Canadian Football, being a good 'aunt' to my friends' kids, truly understanding and living by my personal philosophies, trying to make the world a more tolerant place by learning to be more understanding myself and, of course, travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: anything & everything - seriously - I just love music.
Movies: I don't have a lot of free time to sit & watch movies, but when I watch I usually go for the goofball funny stuff like Old School, Dodgeball, Bad Santa, etc. or the mess with your head a bit stuff like Fight Club, Go, Trainspotting, etc.
Books: Mostly light fiction and then any non-fiction topic I happen to be interested in at the moment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During the day, climbed to the rim of Mt. Vesuvius. That night, enjoyed a church festival in the tiny village of Bomerano, Italy: being the only non-Italians in town, seeing the town stand and sing the Italian national anthem when a small local band began playing it, seeing Italian Bob Segar perform, ending it all with a fireworks show that you could apparently see from the Mediterranean: it was the most authentically 'foreign' experience of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Talk to me about your dogs - training, what to feed them, whether or not to vaccinate them - I've got a lot of knowledge to share.
Learn: I want desperately to learn another language - I'm thinking Italian or Spanish. Help!?!?
Share: my favorite quote - For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that this was my life. This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness.
Happiness is the way.
