You can get along with pretty much anyone as long as you remember that we are all just human; while that doesn't mean you need to like, or be liked by anyone, it is a rather helpful sentiment to get you through life without turning into a madman.
It's expressed rather well by works like "Desiderata" or Rudyard Kiplin's "If".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet new, interesting people in the places I travel, share my stories and hear theirs. And of course I'm always open to spare some place for a sleeping bag in my humble dorm room as well ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far only stayed at friends' of friends places. It's always great to have a resting place when you're out in the world.

(climbing trees, buildungs or street lamps, hiking to tall mountains and waterfalls, biking through a thick forest or an inner city, Parcour or Freerunning or whatever ou want to call it, helping people do these things as well)
