About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To taste the world

ABOUT ME

I'm a science/PC geek, and I love cooking and eating (nope, no microwaved dinners with this guy). I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and I believe I have the ability of turning any cultural clash into a less awkward - more fun experience, or the people I met didn't want to admit it's awkward...

Anyway! I'm studying at the Polish-Japanese School of Computer Science, but currently I'm taking a one year break to work here in Oslo in a software development company. I'm particularly interested in Japanese and American cultures, in order of importance: people, customs, food, nature and hiking destinations, art. But I'm eager to get to know anybody.

As I said I'm new to Oslo, and I'm working 8-16, but my evenings are mostly free and my couch is comfy. :)

PHILOSOPHY

To live and die in Pangea!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met CSers in Tunisia, Prague and Warsaw. I never had the chance to stay at anybody's place, so we usually hang out, grabbed a beer or shisha and walked around the city. It was really cool and I'm still in touch with many of them even though some years have passed.

Interests

Jazz, rock, classic and alternative music, Ruby on Rails and web development (my job), general programming and robotics, architecture, snowboard, parties and travel. Also cats, I like cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

My fav movies are Ghibli Studio movies, Tarantino movies, cyberpunk and scifi movies (Moon, Blade Runner, Dark City) and good dramas; usually not comedies.

Music: I love Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Massive Attack, Portishead, Archive, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, John Coltrane, Tomasz Stańko, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, but also Daft Punk, Justice, The Knife, Sigur Ros or Explosions in the Sky.

Books: Almost every Lem's book, Nabokov's "Dar", "The Plague" by Camus (love that one), "Divine Commedy", "The Master and Margarita", Milton's "Paradise Lost", "The Tempest". I like books that are written in a beautiful language, even if they don't have a good storyline. I like wordplays, coming up with new names, describing objects from a different approach, synesthesia.

My fav artists are mostly academic artists and renaissance artists (Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci), but I enjoy impressionist paintings, A. Mucha's works or Beksin€žski's paintings too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking and my speciality is the Italian cuisine, although I know a lot of traditional Polish dishes as well.

From professional stuff I can teach you basic French and Polish of course. I'd love to teach somebody about web development if it doesn't make him/her sleepy. I'm an ex-PHP developer, now a young Ruby on Rails developer, and I've got a lot of experience with API integration and building social networks.
