Overview
About Me
Introversion, idealism and deep conversations that witness my struggles with the two.
So far, my traveling is limited to the countries where I have spent a good number of years. As a sociologist and half an anthropologist that suits my personality. But then life is too short and the world so diverse. It's interesting to see vague similarities across thousands of miles apart and acute differences within a few kilometers.
I don't like parties but I like to meet few people and get to really know them. I know how to add fun and laughter in everyday conversations. I study sociology of emotions so I can talk endlessly about relationships, self and their interaction. I am always interested to know the unique ways in which others feel the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling but won't leave home to mark popular landmarks off the list only. It is just not compelling enough for me, I feel something is missing in such trips. I am interested in learning the complexity of human emotions and how they are spread across the globe. To meet new people and have genuine conversations with them to feel how our lives intersect is a must for me.
I am neither interested in artifacts nor ideologies, so I don't gain much from visiting generic museums (though Zagreb's Museum of Broken Relationships is definitely on my list). The last time I was in a museum, I found it more interesting to observe how others are interacting with the objects and visiting the place.
I have joined Couchsurfing because I prefer to visit different places and see how they provide a backdrop to the lives of some. I see many interesting profiles here and would love to hear more about the profound experiences that have defined who you are. Visiting a new place is one of the goals but your story is nothing short of fascinating for me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I won't say that I've read a lot. Getting married and having kids does slow down everything else :)
These days, I am reading books on emotions, reflexivity etc. and Hungarian literature. What's the connection? Well, we can discuss that when we meet :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Driving to the top of Sudhan Gali, a village in the hilly areas of Kashmir, with a seventy year old dad, two months old son, a twenty five year old car and the hope that it doesn't break on the way. The road had some extreme bad patches where it was almost non-existing. The view at the end of our journey was breathtaking.
Going back to school and fulfilling my dream of studying social sciences has proved to be a similar adventure, albeit a longer one. It wasn't an easy decision to make, with two young kids depending upon me. However, I think the knowledge is worth the effort. I've been on a path of self-discovery and construction and this empowers me to make many positive changes in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think the most fascinating thing for me is to learn about other's life stories and share mine.
I have had a very eclectic career starting as a website designer, moving forward to building an internet marketing and hosting business and ultimately landing in my dream sector of non-profit operations. Working at the non-profit, I decided to go back to school. Over the years I have developed an interest in sociology of self, social psychology, parent-child relationship, interpersonal conflicts and emotions.
I look forward to some engaging conversations.
