About Me

CURRENT - Travelling from SoCal to NoCal to get to Vancouver and back to Central America.

PHILOSOPHY
Full power, I packed my backpack 9 months ago and decided to leave financial markets and business behind me.

Life is too beautiful to spend it inside so I went on this amazing trip that guides me through Asia, from the Nepalese mountains, through the Indian jungle, to culinary challenges in South - East - Asia.

I love to challenge myself and get out of.my comfort zone. Travelling India is one of my highlights that enabled me to embrace a new life style, customs and eat with locals on the side walk.

I am very outdoorsy, enjoy canoying, hiking, swimming, running and basically everything that kicks your adrenalin.

When I am not strolling through temple sites, I enjoy reading, good conversations, love to cook or talk even more over a couple of beers.

I like to live every day to the fullest. If I don't like something I wonder why and in which way it irritates me. This holds for life styles, art, behaviour etc. so you won't find me gossip, judge or talk down on any life style. It's all about positive energy. If I can't feel it, I gratefully leave a place behind.

And to sum all of these things up I was riding my bike through Europe. From Germany, through Luxembourg and Belgium to the Netherlands, crossing back into Belgium to get to Amsterdam. It was just AMAZING. Every day I had to fight my inner urge to hope on a train when my muscles started to ache and my legs to tremble. Every day I added some more kilometres and every day I was hosted by the most inspiring, beautiful people who made this trip so special.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's purely simple: I love people. Call me naive but I believe in the good.

I enjoy different nations, cultures and ways of life and there is no better way to dive into a country than experiencing it through the eyes of locals.

Interests

Foremost I am a traveller and like to put my finger down on a map and go and explore.

Moreover I am a passionate salsa and swing dancer, love to go to the opera or theater.

If I don't feel like culture you probably find me exercising, going for a run in the forest, hiking some trails in the mountain or swimming.

But in the end of the day it's meeting friends for wine, dinner, party or merely chatting that keeps me a happy fellow.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a voracious book reader and there are just so many out there. Yet if you make me choose it's likely Shantaram and The Night Circus that I like best.

I am not so much of a movie person (no time) but always have my music with me. From nine inch nails to Ben Howard , I enjoy Indi, Electro, but also good mainstream music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Amritsar India I helped out in a temple and made Chapatti bread with the local women, kneeling on the floor and rolling the doe, after having shared dinner with them.

I taught English in a school in Cambodia in the countryside and I distributed food to homeless people in Kuala Lumpur. The latter was one of the most wonderful experiences, talking and learning from those in need and listening to their stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always learn from all the people who cross my path. They inspire me in so many different ways that it would be difficult to narrow it down.

I simple hope that my deeds have some positive impact on others and provide my surroundings with as much pleasure as I experience.

Of course I can always teach you some German (and correct you like a proper German if you make mistakes), salsa dancing, standing on the head and laugh.

I will always share a smile, even in the early morning hours.
