I am a public high school teacher in New York City. I'm 30 and male. I'm sure I share the feeling with many of you out there: the best part of traveling is meeting interesting new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a veteran of hosteling, the Gringo Trail, and travel in general. I've hosted here and surfed in Washington state, to great success. I am also on WarmShowers, a similar site for cyclists.

There is a guitar, a ukulele, a banjo, a harmonica and a cajón in the apartment, and surfers are most welcome to jam.

Taking a wooden riverboat 20 hours upriver along the Mekong River from Luang Prabang, Laos to the Thai border then hitchhiking into Thailand.

Housing is a right, not a privilege. Many of us are privileged enough to travel the world. Let's democratize travel by taking money out of the picture.

I'd be more than pleased to cook a meal for you, and of course the age-old CouchSurfing tradition of standing you a pint in your favorite pub. I also love to swap travel stories. I'm very neat and don't mind doing the dishes or any other way I can help out.
