Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION I am going to school for a Master of Environmental Management. I live in New Haven, CT but I recently moved from Monterey, CA where I lived for 15 years. ABOUT ME I love adventures, the outdoors, wild things of all kinds, and stimulating conversation. I live for fresh air, big hugs, strong coffee, something distant to train my eyes on, and activities that make me sweat. I like good stories and intend to fill my life with them. I am motivated to do good and protect wild places but generally laid back about most everything else. I'm genuine, outgoing, joyful, cheerful. PHILOSOPHY I am inspired and motivated by the wild places and people around me. I live my life joyfully and with curiosity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I like to cook for small groups of people, connect likeminded people, share the things I've learned in life (surf skills, the best hiking trails, ideas, travel tips, etc), listen to stories, read aloud. I'm generally handy and a good person to have around in stressful situations. I have wilderness first aid skills and practical backcountry experience. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I am currently staying with a friend in Tanzania so I can’t host anyone now but I do hope to move back to the US and have an extra bedroom for you!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to read, listen to music, and watch films! My current favorite author is Annie Dillard and her works "Living Like Weasels" and "The Writing Life". My tastes are eclectic, but I like what I like and have a few strong aversions. I am currently working on a beautiful independent feature-length nature documentary film called Otter 501, check it out: www.otter501.org. I also love radio and secretly aspire to have my own radio show.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A trip to Yosemite's high sierras changed my life. Before then I didn't realize how breathtaking wild places could be and how safe I could feel in them despite the obvious risks.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my knowledge of California's outdoors.
I want to learn about animals and environmental conservation efforts around the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good cook and love to share stories about my travels, my work in conservation, and help others have meaningful cross-cultural experiences. I like practicing languages so if you want to work on your English, Spanish or Swahili let’s meet up!
