About Me

I am a recent college graduate who was unsatisfied with her standard 9 to 5 job in the States, and left the country for a much needed "scary" learning experience abroad. I worked in the States for companies related to my degree for just long to pay off my student loans and work up to nerve to quit my job to move a broad.

For now I am living and working in Lima, Peru, assisting in English class at Colegio San Agustin, but am looking forward travelling South America once the school year is over.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A best friend from university and I are planning a large South America trip. As we both ended up working in Peru, we decided to do a big adventure together. We will be trying hit all the big destinations for this trip including: Rio's Carnival, Ecuador's Amazon, Buenos Aires, Patagonia, and Santiago. This will be my first experience using Couchsurfing to travel, although I've managed to meet a few of Lima's Couchsurfers who have only good things to say about it.

Interests

Right before I moved abroad, my brother and I took a class for and obtained our California M1 motorcycle liscences. However, I have yet to use the liscence, as in an effort to assuage my mom, because I only ride dirt bikes. Riding dirt bikes is absolutely terrifying, and I love every bit of it, except the falling part. My 230cc is REAL hard to pick up, I was getting pretty good at it there at the end though, (lot's of opportunity for practice, if you know what I mean).
Every time I see someone on a motorcycle riding around Lima, I miss weekends on my bike.

I am also an avid fantasy and sci-fi reader. I devour books, especially audiobooks. With an audiobook, the most mundane task becomes something to look forward to. Adding an extra mile to a run because I absolutely need to find out what happens next in the book has happened more than once.

Music, Movies, and Books

My movie taste for the most part stays in line with my taste in books, so Lord of the Rings is without a doubt my favorite movies. But because everyone hates it when someone answers with a series as their favorite something I will specify that the Two Towers is my favorite in the LOTR trilogy. Gotta love the epic battle for Helm's Deep.

My music taste is much more mixed. Living in Peru has given me quite the taste for Reagaton. I'm kind of in love with it. I also enjoy artists like Ed Sheeran, and other artists like Flaw or Chevelle.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have recently developed a love for cooking. Along with a current roommate, we have started cooking light, healthy, and- most importantly- delicious meals each night. My favorite recipe so far is a roasted Butternut Squash stuffed with quinoa, vegetables, cheese, and a handful of my growing spice collection. The spice collection will be travelling with me, just in case something needs some spicing up.
