Hey! My name is Kara. I'm a university English teacher and part-time ESL teacher from a small town in northern British Columbia, Canada. In my free time I like to write poetry; I have a book, Eating Matters, coming out this October with Caitlin Press. I've never been outside of North America and am super stoked to have this opportunity to experience new cultures and meet some cool people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've spent my whole adult life going to university and working to pay for it. This summer I finished my MA, so I decided to quit my job and go travel. Hostels are cool, but I like the idea of couchsurfing because it gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the culture of a place and mingle with hosts who have a feel for the area.
