About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am a trekking enthusiast and plan to travel extensively to remote trails and villages in the mighty Himalayas.

ABOUT ME

An adventure loving person and thrill seeker....who loves to walk! Would pack my backpack and hit the trail at the drop of a hat. Love spending hours just sitting by a lake in the middle of the mountains all by myself! I crave for knowledge and I am a voracious reader.

I am an ardent animal lover. Rescued a week old abandoned pup 3 years back from the streets and now she has grown to become the most beautiful dog in the world! If you don't get along with dogs, chances are we won't get along as well :)

As much as I enjoy going to pubs for a few drinks and being up all night and just talking and chilling at home, I 'm not particularly too keen on going to clubs or anywhere too noisy. So if you are looking to party hard, I may not be the right person to host :)

Traveling and exploring the road less traveled is what excites me the most. Even if I could afford, I rather prefer to travel on a shoestring budget and interacting with the locals and try to taste the kind of life that they live. I try to keep away from the typical touristic attractions and overly crowded places.

PHILOSOPHY

I am in love with the quote below!

"There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more"
.....By Lord George Gordon Byron.

I believe in living rather 40 years of life full of adventure, thrills and excitement than 70 years of boring, mundane life. I have been lucky to start my own consultancy because of which I manage to take a lot of time off to do things that I love doing. On the negative side, my job might not shower me with riches, but I am getting to do what I love! No complaints! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Into the Wild, Baraka, Relentless Enemies (NGC Documentary), The Little Rascals, Nordwand, Touching the void, 30 for 30 (The two Escobars), Blow, Inception, and many many more!

Music: Led Zep, Deep Purple, Asia, Supertramp, Massive Attack, Flunk, Porcupine Tree, Tool, Zero 7, Dream Theater, Blue Man Group, Eagles, Incubus, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, etc etc.

Books! First of all, I loooveee the smell of new/old books. And I quit reading fiction many years back. Though I am not a religious person, reading about different religions is really fascinating for me. I love books on History, Ancient travels, explorers & voyages, Biographies and books on Political situations in various countries around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While hiking solo at a remote place in Uttarakhand, India, I spotted a Leopard about 150 odd meters from me busy eating remains of a cow (not much was left by that time). It seemed the Leopard looked at me for few seconds and continued eating the cow. It was surreal standing in the wild watching the spectacle of Nature unfold in front of me. I quietly turned around and started walking briskly in the opposite direction!!! I couldn't stop shaking with fear for at least an hour and never dared to put back the can of pepper spray in my bag. Yes, I carry pepper spray while trekking....just in case :)

But this episode made me realize how ruthless yet beautiful nature can be at the same time.

Apart from this incident, consumed opium with the Bishnoi Tribe in Jodhpur (its a ritual for them to offer opium to guests), Paragliding in the Himalayas, being stuck in my tent alone for over 24 hours due to a snow storm, a 54 hour long arduous train journey in sweltering heat to reach Kerala and heading straight to the sea to cool off!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to play bass and we can sketch together. Unfortunately cooking isn't my forte so that's a bummer!

For starters, I would love to learn few words in another language. As I noticed, one always tends to learn the bad words first while learning a new language! :) I would also be very much interested in knowing about the city and country you come from and especially the unique natural wonders in your country and maybe we can cook together! I'll take the responsibility to gather the ingredients and promise to be a dedicated assistant to you :)
