About Me
PLEASE READ: I no longer have time to respond to couchsurfing requests. If you want to contact me do so through the contact form of the website below and mention how you initially found me.
I am half way between El Nido and Coron, where the public ferry stops, but they can be sporadic and might not be worth your while to come for only a few days. You can sleep on the beach for free (no sandflies), but rains a little every day from June to end November, during which time there are also mosquitoes. You can stay for free if you bring your own tent, but you need to pay if you want to rent any of mine (more info below). Volunteer program also available, if you stay long enough.
I am on a beautiful island half way between El Nido and Coron. The public ferry between the two usually stops here, so not hard to get to, but is usually around 3 times a week. Doesn't make much sense to come here for only a few days, but still possible.
I am building a kitesurfing nature camp
http://www.islandhoppinginthephilippines.com/palawan/patoyo-kitesurfing-eco-resort/
Surrounded by lovely little islands, excellent snorkeling in the clearest waters in the world, sometimes big turtles spotted just offshore. Badminton, volleyball and basketball available in amongst the coconut trees.
Can organise local island hopping tours from 300p per person, explore caves, diving available, fishing. I have fishing gear and you can rent our little boat if you want to give it a try - ocean totally teaming.
I have many musical instruments so welcome musicians for evening entertainment around the campfire.
I'm on a small island with a community of about 25 people, spread out across the island. Easy walk to the other side. Completely rural with freely wandering chickens and pigs, no concrete in sight. There is a local carpenter who builds boats and you are welcome to hire locals to teach you their skills (such as how to make a roof out of coconut leaves). Otherwise I have a lot of construction skills I can teach you.
There are no mosquitos or sandflies during the dry season (December to June about) and you are welcome to sleep on the beach for free, but there is no store on the island and food can be expensive to bring in, so all guests and volunteers pay a daily budget of 250p for food. Mostly vegetarian, all the fresh coconuts you can eat, and can include fresh fish caught by the locals. Communal cooking. Those who do not want to partake pay an extra 100p a day, which goes to the people in the kitchen.
If you want to borrow a tent or mattress etc. you should join our volunteer program, one hour of work as explained below, or 300p per night, 400p if two people in tent. 100p for mattress and pillow, if available and if you want to sleep outside (however, rainy season is generally from July to end November - the rest of the year it almost never rains).
Most important work is cooking and keeping the place tidy, then casual work where you are given mostly free reign to exercise your creative mind working with bamboo, coconut leaves, seashells and my tools. Create little pockets in the jungle along the beach or inland somewhat to create private little havens for tents. More of a nature camp where you can learn a lot of skills, if you so choose.
There is an environmental tax of 200p per person per week for the Linapacan area, and the property owner would like a one-time entrance fee of 200p per person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
CS is a great way to meet people - either if you are hosting or traveling. So far I've only hosted, but I love meeting the people either way. If I travel to a new country I like to use the forums to research the country a bit ahead of time. Sharing culinary secrets is great too: http://youtu.be/yNMmy1xo2K0

Music, Movies, and Books
Music quite varied, movies when I want to turn my brain off, books mostly factual "conspiracies" and truth oriented. Not a fan of novels and arduously reading other people's fantasies, cause I got enough of my own. .
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Almost slipped into the cold abyss of a glacier in Alaska. Two small rocks saved my life. Otherwise the world is amazing, and I love raw nature. .
Teach, Learn, Share
People I learn something new from. .
What I Can Share with Hosts
My Tarzan skills at survival, simmering food on a carefully placed coconut fire to the sounds of my viola. Love jammin', all night long. .
