About Me

I grew up in South Texas, attended college at SHSU in Hunstville, Texas, lived in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to Jensen Beach in September. In my spare time I like to hang out at coffee shops, read, go for a drink with friends, work out, and play roller derby. Oh, and I like making lists using bullet points lol as you will see throughout my profile. :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting new people and traveling in a cheaper and much more entertaining fashion than staying at a hotel. If you want to stay with me, tell me a bit about yourself like what you like to do and why you are going to be in Jensen Beach. Also, let me know if there is anything in particular you might like to do while here.

Interests

Playing roller derby, skating (indoors and outdoors), cooking, baking, reading, traveling, camping, hiking, country dancing (two step), lifting weights, meeting new people, learning Spanish and German, and trying new things. I traveled to San Francisco and stayed at the hostel at Fort Mason for a few days after Christmas in 2014 and then in 2015-2016 went to Buenos Aires, Argentina for two weeks. I visited New York City for the first time in 2016 and really enjoyed it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I always have a tough time with this category. Here are some of the things I like:

Books: The History of Love by Nicole Krauss; The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less by Barry Schwartz; On My Own: The Art of Being a Woman Alone by Florence Falk; Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver

Favorite Place to Visit: San Francisco, but after my recent visit to NYC and Buenos Aires, it has some challengers lol.

Movies: Sliding Doors, but when I was a kid it was the movie version of Pippi Longstocking and later A League of their Own.

Couple of my Favorite Apps: NPR One, BodySpace, OverDrive, Facebook

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in high school, I biked 50 miles for this local race with my brother and his Boy Scout troop. I finished the distance despite flipping my bike before the first aid station (I hit the front brake way too hard when I got close to another bike) and my dad had to use those plastic ties to hook things back into place, including some part of my seat. Of course the bike was new and I scratched it up my first day. It was fun though.

Teach, Learn, Share

*I can definitely teach you about roller derby lol.
*I can provide basic information about the area and what's around (just let me know what looking for or interested in).
* I bake really well, at least regarding cookies, and am up for doing so if time permits.
*I've read a variety of fiction and nonfiction books and you are welcome to look around my bookshelf.
* I don't have cable, but I can pull up Netflix on my tv.
