About Me

Favorite quote: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
-Howard Thurman

I believe to be inspired is to 'find your mojo' that drives you to engage in something purposeful and positive, ultimately inspiring others to do the same. On the simplest level, my goal each day is to become the person my dog thinks I am.

I currently live with my husband, the two youngest of our five children and three adorable fur people in Boca Raton, Florida.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My eldest son, Gadi, was visiting home for the first time in over two years to mark his 20th birthday. As he was sharing a few a of his varied experiences, we had the epiphany that he was "20 for 20"....that so far, he had been in 20 countries by his 20th birthday. As we were marveling in this fact, we realized it was only possible for him as a couchsurfer.

I am venturing into the realm of couchsurfing, after having agreed to host Sunal, a young man from India, whom my son had couch surfed at a few months prior. Although we have had many guests over the years, this was the first time it would be classified as providing accommodations to a 'couchsurfer.' Dinner was delightfully weird, in a good way, as we listened to all of the details of their encounter in India and how it lead to Sunal being in our home. As it turned out, both were needing to be at the University of Florida in Gainesville at the end of the summer, so my husband drove them both to school following their stay.

Hosting Sunal, coupled with Gadi's wonderful couchsurfing experiences, led me to feel comfortable in exploring this option when traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Nearly everything I do is usually somehow connected to music. Love the quote, ""Where words fail, music speaks." - Hans Christian Anderson
I write parodies and original songs. Have been working on creating several anti-smoking PSA music videos as well as a song for Angel Water Project.

Always up for going to a thrift store, have a passion 4 animals; (dogs in particular), volunteering, Unfortunately, have not been to the movies in a long time or read a good book I can speak about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a vegan restaurant In Ohio, over 25 years ago. When being interviewed, I would describe how we did not use any milk, butter, cheese, eggs, meat , chicken or fish. At which point, some would say, " What are you serving? 25 years later, the answer is a resounding YES....only now realize how much I was ahead of my time!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been facilitating drum circles and teaching hand drumming in a variety of settings for over fifteen years. I started HUG International (Help Us Give), a for-benefit company in the business of giving back. I love to create and promote products that support worthy causes and now have a vehicle to do so .

I was able to take one of my 'pet causes' to the next level with the help of a dear friend and co-founded the Angel Water Project, whose mission includes providing atmospheric water generators to communities in need.
