About Me

My family moved from Chicago to SW Missouri when I was young. We owned a trout fishing resort about 15 miles from Branson, Missouri on Lake Taneycomo. This contributes to why I enjoy meeting new people. I love being around water. I enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping which are among the reasons I chose to relocate to Rogers, Arkansas in 2016.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a good friend who told me about Couchsurfing and she has met fun and interesting people through this program. I also served as a host family for two Up With People employees earlier in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They were with the advance marketing and promotions team. I grew up at a family owned resort and the office, general store and tackle shop were attached to our house. Having dozens of people in our home on a daily bases seemed normal to me!

Interests

I enjoy a variety of arts and crafts. I paint using watercolors and mixed media, I enjoy photography and graphic design. I also enjoy live music and discovering locally owned businesses and restaurants. I love going to the Farmer's Markets, cooking and visiting museums.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy several types of music including 70s and 80s Rock, Blues, Electric Blues (The Mavericks) Zydeco, (Chubby Carrier). I don't seem to make time to watch movies or read many books any more, though I always loved the musicals from the golden age of the 40s and 50s, love stories, action adventures like Indiana Jones, and most anything that has good character development and isn't too violent. With regard to TV I tend to like the History Channel, HGTV, cooking shows and comedies like The Big Bang Theory. I also love Shark Tank. (see my amazing thing!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had a few brushes with greatness. One included the opportunity to speak to Mark Cuban by phone. I worked for a digital imaging technology company and my boss told me to see if I could get video content from the Dallas Mavericks to display at a trade show in Amsterdam. I looked up the team's office number online, called, left a message...several days later he called back and said yes, we could use the content one time and he gave me the contact person to make the arrangements. This was in the early 90s and I barely knew who he was, but was still excited to speak to him.
