Hi I'm Karen. First of all, let's get rid of the clichés. Yes, i'm openminded and easy going, but that's not what defines me. A few bullet points:

*People
I am very much of a people person and interested in all the different kinds there are. I always knew I was going to be caregiver in the social sector. I Like to hang out with friends, and try to see the authenticity of every person.

*Traveling
Kind of a given. But I love exploring local things . I've always been interested in how people live their lives. Maybe that's because of my father, who was a globe trotter avant la lettre. He met my mother in Indonesia and together they came to Belgium to start a family. I'm their first born and the passion of culture is running through my vains.

*City vs Nature
Although Belgium is a very small country, Brussels is the pounding heart of Europe. I can really enjoy the ambiance in a big city, with all its cultures, smells, colours, music and night scene. There's always things to do.
With all those stimuli around me, there's nothing more relaxing than to go out into the nature. Nothing is as great as a walk in the forest or through the mountains. An excellent way to clear my head and getting ready for my occupied big city life.

*Food: Being occupied with good food is important to me. I can really enjoy dining and exploring new flavours in different places. My absolute favourites are cheese, wine, and pizza! Also when traveling, exploring the local foods are always on my agenda.

I subscribed on couchsurfing because I would like to get to know the people behind a country while I'm traveling. I really want to know how local people live their everyday lives and what their ideas are on life and about the place they live. I also always valued the tips of locals and other travellers more than books and tourist offices.
