About Me
Oh, well hello there.
INTJ, but you would never be able to tell the "I" on first glance.
My "day job" (that actually happens well before daylight) is a VIPKID Teacher. Additionally, I'm working with a friend to start up to support parents of children who have experienced trauma. Always willing to learn more about attachment theory, religion*, and whatever it is that makes people tick.
(*If I ever started a blog, it would probably be dedicated exclusively to conversations I have about religion with my various AirBnB hosts, so saying that I have an interest in religion is probably an understatement. They're always pretty fun conversations, imo.)
Worth noting: If you give me enough notice, I'll do my best to make sure I'm not teaching super early in the morning when you come to visit; however, if you request to stay less than two weeks from your anticipated date of travel, there's a chance I won't be able to arrange my schedule so that I won't be teaching in the wee hours of the morning. My "office" is in my (huge) closet, and I've gotten pretty good at having enthusiastic conversations with Chinese 8-year-olds at an acceptable decibel level -- so if that arrangement doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother me.
Also worth noting: I don't have WiFi (although I do have an ethernet connection that you're free to use) or a TV. Or a microwave. I don't know why I choose to live like this, tbh.

Music, Movies, and Books
I always cringe when I come back to my favorites lists after a few years, but, as of 2020:
Books: Watership Down; 1984; The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Orthodoxy (G.K. Chesterton); The Cost of Discipleship (Dietrich Bonhoeffer); The Body Keeps the Score (Bessel Van Der Kolk),
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got an email about a $200 plane ticket to Colombia from a club at my school. Despite not knowing anyone at the club, I signed up to go. I spent a week with four strangers who turned out to be marvelous people. Two years later, convinced, I went back to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer. To my immense chagrin (read: delight), the thing that everyone told me would happen in Peace Corps did, in fact, happen, and we'll be getting married in January.
