About Me

ABOUT ME

Well, you'll be able to confirm or deny this... but on my good days I am friendly, laugh a lot and transmit some good vibes. Since I'm traveling, these are meant to be good days :)

PHILOSOPHY

1. Contradiction. We'll die inhabiting it.
Don't even try to be objective, logical or congruent. This is out of human reach. If you try too hard, you'll get frustrated and you won't get even close. And yet, keep trying, you won't get closer to truth but you'll have fun while getting a ray of light with every insight.

2. Relativity.
All things depend on so many other things. Time changes thoughts and states of mind. Think twice and once more.

3. Kindness.
Every human being responds to its background. Let's be kind. Let's understand rather than judge. Let's construct rather than destruct.

4. I'm not as I appear to you, and we'll all die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first time couchsurfing and I can say it has changed my way of traveling! I won't go back to hostels or hotels never again, and it has nothing to do with saving money.

Interests

Discovering new ways of living, learning to communicate with people (learning languages), finding beauty in life (art, everyday poetry, simple things).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm forgetful about names, authors, times, as if some entity in my mind considered them useless details. However I find it hard when it comes to bringing them up into conversation, because apparently people seem very fond of mentioning their favorite "everything" and asking for my favorite "everything" to see how cool I can be. I'm not cool at all.

I don't like to pretend to be smart by mentioning a list of items that can reflect my good taste.

You can face the best piece of art and not have a single thought on it as equally as you can face the worst mainstream crap and make the most of it, depending on your approach.

I don't have favorite books or movies. They come and go. Nevertheless, I truly enjoy reading and watching all sorts of films. From a "Blue Velvet" or "Bitter Moon" heavy kind of film, full of nudity and madness to a light "P.S. I Love You" / "My Best Friend's Wedding" chick flick. I enjoy oldies, animated children movies make me laugh a lot. Wish I could have more time to enjoy these endless pleasures.

I'll mention some, randomly, just don't ask me about the irrelevant data. I'm more guided by metaphors and find them everywhere.
Breakfast at Tiffany's, Tokyo Blues, Me Before You, Casablanca, Her, Their Eyes were watching God, Walt Whitman, Der Himmel über Berlin, Rabbindranath Tagore, Ingmar Bergman, Ayn Rand, Bertrand Russell... and all I've yet to discover.

Music:
Here I can get a bit more picky.
Hate noise. No techno, no heavy metal. Yes, it's noise for me. No, you won't change my mind.
Reggaeton, cumbia and latin rythms only for dancing. Otherwise, better not to hit play on them.
I'm mexican but hate "Banda". If I find a good partner that shakes the hell out of me, I most certainly won't go back to my seat.

Love jazz and classical music but wish I had more elements to appreciate it.
Corny, love songs... Oh yeah! Guilty pleasure that doesn't make me feel guilty at all!

John Mayer, Michael Buble, Jack Johnson, Paolo Nutini, Matt White, yes... sweet men voices, easy listening. Maybe not too thoughtful but tender to the ear.

The peculiars: Janis Joplin, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Joaquín Sabina, Chavela Vargas, Lila Downs Those one of a kind characters which voices you can recognize. Hats off for them. Again, I don't remember names of songs... Just play them to me and I'll move my feet or I won't.

The Indie bands: Belle and Sebastian, Camera Oscura, The Weepies. Some good lyrics every once in a while and cool, fun sounds. Imaginative and playful. I don't get tired of these.

According to those who know me, I tend to listen to depressive, blue music. That's what I enjoy in loneliness.

However, when it comes to running or partying I'm a mostly a puppet, an open being, who inhabits the beats.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It just amazes me how complex life is, how many strings it has. There is always something new and something old that amazes me.

Those who only embrace the big, impressive things, are likely to have a boring life. You don't have to jump on the parachute to witness life. A sharp pair of eyes does wonders.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching, though I'm no expert on anything.

I could teach you some figure skating, from basic to more profi stuff.
Maybe some Spanish or French as well. Interested on instruments? Perhaps want to pull out some piano and sax sounds.

I am a terrible cook but a great eater. Teach me some recipes please!

I want to learn to take risks. Want to go out of my comfort zone and might need some help with that. Some of us are not as adventurous but it doesn't mean we wouldn't like to be.

Take me hiking, get me to dance in the traffic lights for money. Take me to any kind of class, workshop or talk. I'm here to learn.
