About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and meet new people :)

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and like to meet new people from all over the world. I've studied and lived for several years in Groningen, which is a nice city with lots of students! Right now I'm living in Enschede, because I'm working in this region at the moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to help people out by showing them around, giving information about my city or maybe offering a place to sleep. And of course when I'm traveling around I also like to meet people from couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and surfed a few times, which was a great experience! I've also joined some couchsurfing parties in different countries and met some fun people there! Furthermore I like to go to activities in my home town and here I met some people who help me out with learning better Spanish! So I believe couchsurfing is a great way to meet people from different nationalities, learning new cultures and getting to know the local spots of a city you're visiting

Interests

I love traveling (of course ;)), learning more about different cultures and learning new languages. I've been to a language course in Spain and traveled twice for a few months in South America, and now that I'm back I would like to keep practicing my Spanish to improve it.
I like to hang out with friends (dinner, theater or partying) and sports (tennis, swimming and skiing/snowboarding), I really love live music, so if there are some singer-songwriter/small concerts or festivals nearby I always try to go there.
I also like reading and music (I play piano and a little guitar)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like different kinds of music, particularly singer-songwriters, but it all depends on my mood! Some examples: Mumford and Sons, Nina Simone, Room Eleven, Booker T, James Brown, Caro Emerald, Foster The People, Manu Chao, Fredrika Stahl, John Mayer, Van Morrison and Jonathan Jeremiah.
I also love reading, although I don't read as much as I used to unfortunately! Some books I liked: 'a thousand splendid suns','shadow of the wind' and the trilogy of Stieg Larsson.0
The best movie I've seen in a few years was Intouchables. Really loved it. Some other movies I like: The Shawshank Redemption, Chocolat, Hotel Rwanda, Crash and Law Abiding Citizen. And of course some feelgoodmovies like P.S. I Love You and The Notebook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, just one amazing thing... there are so many amazing and beautiful things to mention!
Traveling in Africa in really really full minibuses or in the back of an open truck next to chicken and goats while people are almost falling out of it... And still everyone is smiling and being kind! And working in a small hospital in Malawi was also an experience I'll never forget, especially the outreach programs with people dancing and singing when we arrived! And those amazing smiling and dancing kids in Africa, and they can dance!!
Some more experiences I'll never forget: a 4-day tour in Bolivia: extensive salt flats in Uyuni, beautiful mountains, colorful deserts, green lakes full of flamengos and a volcanic area with steam coming out of the earth, bubbling 100 degrees mud and shaky grounds! Or going to a food aid program with a priest, where a hundred children are praying for me to have a safe trip.
A boat trip in Panama to the San Blas Islands; everywhere you look small dots of palm trees coming out of the see! And a 50 hour crossing over the open sea...quite an experience! And the friendliest people I've met in Colombia, all trying to help me out, giving advice when I'm not even asking for it.
