About Me

Hi there! Thank you for reading my profile :)

I'm a friendly guy from Belgium who started traveling a few years back. I studied in Belgium, Germany and the US and then politely declined the option of keeping my desk job to start backpacking. Craziest, scariest but best decision ever.

I came to Costa Rica and met great people. Now living in San José. I'm interested in people and curious about their story... What's yours?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My plan is not to go to every single country that exist out there and just go for the sake of saying I went. I don't want to just cross a country off the list and call it a day. When I went to Mexico, I made the decision to try and live like the locals, learn about their language, their culture, their food, their history... And they were very opened to that.

It was sometimes tough living the way some people do but really worth it. Everybody knows that hanging out with locals is the best way to truly get acquainted with the city. However, listening to and observing people and actually hearing what they have to say and trying to understand the way they see the world is what I am all about.

Couchsurfing, for me, is the perfect way to do it. Why? Because it connects you to like-minded individuals that want to share a part of themselves with you and hopefully keep a little part of you with them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stay for a week at a Shaman's house in the Mexican mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's be honest, it's almost impossible to really be able to "teach" something to someone or really "learn" something from them when you only get to know them / hang out with them for a couple of days.

My only hope is that I can have a small impact on your life and make you feel something that you will remember. Maybe talking about traveling with me will be the little push you needed to start planning the trip you "always wanted to go on." Maybe I'll help you settle a personal dilemma you couldn't talk about with anybody you're close to. Maybe I can help you slay the dragon that lives next door! (Ok, probably not that last one but who knows...)

I've always believed our lives are shaped by the people we meet. Hopefully, we can leave a tiny mark on each other's life and possibly keep learning from each other. So you see, I'm totally selfish here... I want to get to know you so you can help me become a better version of myself. Isn't that neat? :) :) :)
