ABOUT ME

I aspire to be like Bertrand Russell.

My three passions: Knowledge, love and food.

How do I lead my life? According to Occam's Razor.

Personality: Very extrovert and Open. Not very conscientious. Quite agreeable. Somewhat neurotic.

I am a philosopher. As such, I have devoted my life to the pursuit of knowledge, because in clarity lies the greatest bliss. I also search for love, because it brings ecstasy far beyond anything else.

I am a PhD student in philosophy at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. I teach in three classes: Bioethics and Theory and Methodology of Science and Ethics & Technology. I love my job.

I live in a three room flat with a friend in southern Stockholm.

Whenever I get the chance I travel. I am always listening to a podcast about something. Right now, I am listening to a lecture series on cosmology.

A while ago, I saw the Andromeda galaxy from a telescope in the Atacama desert in Chile. It was so clear across so many eons of time. Long before mankind frayed upon earth, the light from this distant place started its voyage through the void. To reach my eyes.

PHILOSOPHY

1. Happiness: Happiness is an end in it self, but also a means to human flourishing. Morality should promote happiness, if it does not, it is immoral.

2. Knowledge: To learn is to fulfill our human potential. There is nothing that I would not like to learn.

Interessen

I love Wikipedia and reading about space, AI, molecular biology and ethics.

I love making and eating food, but I strongly dislike eating alone. I like planting stuff, especially stuff that I can eat later.

I also enjoy red wine, and have an occasional glass of sherry.

People fill me with awe. The sheer complexity and the subtle nature of each one of us is immense.

Books: Sagan, Russell, Strindberg, Kafka, Marquez, Saramago, Nabukov, Mill, Hume, Hobbes, Locke, Nietzsche, Shakespeare, Kant, Marquez, Chomsky, Parfit, Searle. But the greatest stylist, intellectual and visionary in the history of western civilization, is Plato. When I read his dialogs, I sometimes feel intoxicated by his mastery of thoughts.

My current project: to write a science fiction novel, to write a transhumanist manifesto, and to publish in academic journals.

Books that really annoy me: The Alchemist, The Da Vinci Code, Atlas Shrugged. In fact anything by Coelho, Brown or Rand is a dealbreaker.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

The Universe is so great. The visible universe is 9* 10^9 light years across, and its size to the Universe as a whole is like the size of a proton to the visible universe. How cool is that?Yet there is nothing more complex, as far as we know, than the human brain. This fact is indeed amazing.
