About Me

I love meeting new people and learning about their lives. I can't host at this time but hope to be able to at some point when I own my own home!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wanted to join couch surfing as an alternative to Airbnb and because I'm traveling more these days. The idea of staying in someone's home sounds way more interesting than staying in a hotel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've got a very eclectic taste in music from disco and soul to Indie and country to electronic slow blues. My top 5 favorite bands/artists, in no particular order are The Shins, The Grateful Dead, ABBA, Shawn Colvin, and The Dixie Chicks.

Books: I love anything that is: suspenseful but not gory or overly violent; full of fantasy, magic and adventure, but not cheesy or ridiculous; romantic with realistic characters but not overly sexual; and where the author took time to breathe life into their characters.

Movies: pretty much follows the same formula as above for books, ha ha!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rescued a newborn mouse from certain death! I found her in my neighbor's driveway after he moved a truck that had been stationary for a while. My guess is that her mom had a nest somewhere on the truck and the move dislodged the baby. I love animals so I wanted to help. I learned that baby mice can eat puppy formula so I went to the local farm supply store and bought some and became her surrogate mom! I didn't have a mouse-sized bottle or even syringe so I would pool formula in the palm of my hand and she would lick it up. I named her Pippin (before I realized she was a girl) and we had almost 4 years together before she died of cancer this past June.
