Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Karina, I'm 20 years old, and I am a Spanish major minoring in political science at Alma College. I am an open-minded individual who has a taste for culture and who loves to open up communication with others in order to learn about other views of the world. I am also trying to learn as many languages as I can: Spanish and French are just the beginning I am hoping to learn Arabic, Turkish and Farsi as well. While staying in another country, I hope to get a taste of that culture and not just do tourist activities. I want to just relax and get to know another country a little bit deeper than your average tourist.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, to be honest, I'm a poor college student that craves travelling and exploring. I am hoping to understand other's perspectives through my travelling, and hopefully through Couchsurfing.
As it stands, my reasons for being on Couchsurfing at this particular moment is I decided to take a course in the Political Science Faculty of UGR and with this I have to extend my visa. I am currently living with a wonderful host mom, but she is requiring too much money for me to live with her for my final month of being a student in Spain. I so adore the city, and I am hoping that I will be able to experience it from another perspective.
Music, Movies, and Books
As I have said before, I am an open minded person, and with this my taste in music, cinema and literature are just as wide. My taste when it comes to music is rather diverse. I enjoy artist from all over the world. I enjoy listening to artist, such as: Maluma, Mashrou' Leila, Selena, Rels B, La Santa Cecilia, Hozier, Anderson.Paak, Sevdaliza, Jidenna, Jorja Smith, Ricky Martin, and so many other artist. Regarding literature, I enjoy the work of Pablo Neruda. I am just starting to read the work of Federico García Lorca. On top of poetry I am currently reading Los Detectives Salvajes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in Ecuador, I went to this small village, Banos. In this village, my friends and I rode in the back of a truck and were able to get to know the driver. He was taking us all around, even to places that we never knew existed. He took us to this adrenaline swing! It was the best rush I had ever felt in my life!!
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I would love to practice my Spanish, while I can teach you English, if you'd like. I can also teach you how to cook Mexican food!
