About Me
Hey! I’m Karina, a Padang local powered by good food, random curiosity, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting 😄🍜
Born and raised in Padang, I grew up in a place where food is a serious topic, conversations are never boring, and hospitality comes naturally. So yes, if we meet, expect stories, laughter, and probably a discussion about what to eat next 🔥
I’m currently a final-year law student ⚖️, learning about justice, responsibility, and trying to make sense of the wonderfully complicated and sometimes chaotic legal reality in Indonesia 😄📚. Let’s say that studying law here teaches you patience, critical thinking, and a very strong sense of humor.
Outside campus, my life becomes much more vibrant. I teach Bahasa Indonesia to expatriates 🗣️🇮🇩, and it’s something I truly enjoy; sharing my language, introducing culture, and seeing people grow more confident every day 🌱🌍
I also sew 🧵. Yes, I can literally fix things when they fall apart (life skill unlocked). It’s my quiet little escape where I turn simple fabric into something meaningful, one stitch at a time.
As a true Padang woman ❤️💛🖤, I take food very seriously. Like… very seriously 😄 Food here is not just about eating; it’s culture, identity, and sometimes a full emotional experience 🍜🔥
I enjoy people who are curious, open-minded, and easy to talk to. I love conversations that can go from silly jokes to deep topics without warning, that’s usually where the best moments happen 🌙✨
Life’s too short to stay in one place, or on one couch. So I’m here to meet people, share stories, and enjoy the little unexpected moments along the way 🌍
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because the world feels kinder when we share it with others 🤝✨
For me, meeting people from different cultures isn’t just interesting, it makes life feel richer and reminds me how big and beautiful the world really is 🌍
I’m here to swap real stories 📖, laugh at cultural quirks 😄, and help you experience Padang the way locals actually live, not just as a tourist checking places off a list, but as a friend sharing everyday moments.
Padang is my hometown, and it holds many memories for me ❤️
I love introducing visitors to the little things that make this place special, simple food stalls 🍜 that may not look fancy but serve the most unforgettable flavors, small neighborhood spots where locals gather, and stories about Minangkabau culture that you won’t always find in guidebooks.
Some of my favorite moments are the simple ones, sharing meals 🍽️, talking about life and travel late into the night 🌙, laughing when we mix languages 😂, or exchanging stories about where we turn your trip into something more than sightseeing; let’s make it an adventure filled with stories, laughter, and memories you’ll carry long after you leave 🌿🌍

What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer you a private room with your own bathroom 🏠🛏️✨. A simple, cozy, and comfortable space where you can rest, recharge, and enjoy your privacy after a day of exploring the city 🌇🌴
Please note that the bathroom is traditional Indonesian style 🚿🪣 with a squat toilet 🚽⬇️ and mandi using a bucket (gayung) 🪣💧, not a shower 🚿❌. Many travelers find it an interesting and memorable local experience 🇮🇩😄, but I like to mention it clearly so there are no surprises later 😉
There is no air conditioning ❄️❌, but don’t worry, I provide a fan 🌀😌 and the room has good ventilation 🌿🪟, so fresh air flows nicely and keeps things comfortable 🌬️✨
You’re welcome to use the washing machine 🧺👕, drying area 🌞👚, refrigerator 🧊🍉, and stove 🍳🔥 if you’d like to cook simple meals. Just remember to clean up after yourself 🧽✨ so everything stays nice and cozy for everyone 🏡💛
🚬 About smoking:
If you smoke, no problem 👌 the terrace is your VIP smoking lounge 🚬🌿😄
But inside the house? The smoke gets shy and is not invited 🚭🏠
Especially in the bedroom, the pillows and blankets are innocent and prefer fresh air only 🛏️😇🌬️
All I ask is simple: respect the space 🤝🏠, keep things clean 🧼✨, and leave everything as you found it 🔄😊. Cleanliness is very important to me, because a clean home = happy people 😄🏡✨
