About Me

A passionate travel couple, traveling with heart and soul together!

Dear Couchsurfers and Travel Friends!

My husband Dominik and I Karin absolutely love to travel around our beautiful globe, and we enjoy exploring places and cultures that inspire and touch us!
There is just so much to see in this world - our bucket list is endless long. :0)

We are thankful to have those opportunities for immersing ourselves in other cultures, to meet and get in touch with different people, whom you can learn a lot from.

We are friendly, social, caring and outgoing personalities, who like to have a laugh, enjoy life and spread out a good and positive attitude.

Keeping our planet a clean and healthy environment is important to us!

7 years ago, Karin (single back then) decided to "Live her Dream": I took a Gap Year, had a blast being an aupair in Australia for 1 year, and afterwards I went to explore some of the most beautiful destinations on earth.
I travelled around some stunning South Pacific Islands, Hawaii, New Zealand and South East Asia.
During this 5-month-trip I gathered my first couchsurfing experiences, which were just AMAZING!

Couchsurfing gave this whole world trip its special touch - I would have never made those phenomenal memories and unique experiences without couchsurfing!

Sometimes it´s not about the journey or the destination you travel. It´s about the people you meet along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great opportunity, to get in touch with locals and to experience their way of live!

You always meet exciting and friendly people, may it be locals or other travelers, and a lot of times they take you into a world of story-telling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great first Couchsurfing experience in Tahiti - baking austrian Christmas cookies with my host´s little boy.
Bora Bora on a sailing boat - what an amazing and unbelievable time!
Different places in New Zealand with 3 friends in a campervan
4 islands of Hawaii - very interesting and impressing hosts with incredible lifestyles!

I hosted a lovely hungarian girl for a week - she was training for an Iron Man. I couldn´t believe how fit she is!
2 friendly girls from Hongkong stayed with me and we explored St. Wolfgang and Hallstatt together.

I have hosted lots of friends I met along the way during my round the world trip. They weren´t couchsurfers, since they became my friends on travels, but they came from all over the world (Germany, Netherlands, Australia, other parts of Austria, USA)

Interests

We live in a very scenic area of Austria, surrounded by nature, mountains and lakes, and we totally value our home and what it has to offer us!

We are active and nature-loving people, like little adventures, spontaneous decisions and Roadtrips.
No matter what time of the year, we are mostly out exploring our area: hiking, bike riding, stand up paddeling, swimming, ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, kayaking and climbing.

Dominik is also a member of the mountain rescue team in our town, where he can combine both, his love to the mountains and helping other people when they are in need!

Karin loves the beach, the lake and the ocean and also enjoys dancing!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gap Year in Australia + World Travel around Oceania and South East Asia

Crazy Rideshare from Sydney to Perth - 4000km in 7 days. It was an incredible week!

Feeling, how Tom Hanks must have felt in Cast Away - stand up paddle boarding in the stunning lagoon of Aitutaki (Cook Islands) out to a remote motu island in the middle of the South Pacific, cracking a fresh coconut from the tree.

Cruisin around Namibia with an awesome 4WD and spotting lots of animals including a baby lion cup and a leopard!

Trekking in the Himalayan mountains with my love Dominik - we felt so blessed to actually see Mount Everest in clear and sunny weather!

Teach, Learn, Share

Social work in Africa has been a big dream for us since years, and we could make this happen in January 2020.
Our time in Uganda was amazing and touching and an experience, we will never forget!
We painted a lot in the school building, to make it more child-friendly and to create a more inviting atmosphere.
Also the school is now equipped with 6 new blackboards.

We like to have amusing and interesting talks, to share travel stories and encounters with other cultures, and of course to share laughs and spend funny times together.

We are always interested in political, economical and historical facts about other countries, and especially Dominik is the right person to talk to in that case.

We are always happy to show you around our hometown and area, and make sports together!
