Hi! I'm Kári, I live in Reykjavík and I'm studying ethnography, folklore and geography at uni.
I am vegan and I love to cook and try new foods.
I have a small cat called Rúsína (Raisin). She is staying with my mom because my current apartment doesn't allow pets. Unfortunately, my mom has completely fallen in love with Rúsína so I doubt I'll get her back!
I love growing vegetables, my dream when (if) I settle down would be to have a small greenhouse and a big garden to grow plenty of food.
I work part time as a park ranger at Þingvellir national park. I've been a park ranger at Vatnajökull national park before, in the south of Iceland right next to the biggest glacier in Iceland. It was wonderful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people, I find that people who travel a lot are the easiest to talk to and most outgoing. Even having a respectful debate with someone I disagree with is fun, I like to broaden my worldview.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to music all the time. Right now it's a mix of soulful jazz, R&B and hip hop but I love indie rock too, as well as EDM.
Notable artists include: STRFKR, Jorja Smith, Cleo Sol, vbnd, Kendrick Lamar, Stromae, Radiohead, Bon Iver and so many more.

I'm only focusing on reading for school at the moment, about ethnography and folkloristics as well as Grimm fairy tales and icelandic tales. It's been very interesting, I'm glad I chose this major.

I love ethnographic documentaries like the ones from Agnes Varda. I also like Werner Herzog's 'Encounters at the end of the world' and 'Burden of dreams' is just gold.
I love to go to the cultural cinema in Reykjavík which is called Bíó Paradís, they show some really good indie films.
