About Me

Hi! I'm Kári, I live in Reykjavík and I'm studying ethnography, folklore and geography at uni.
I am vegan and I love to cook and try new foods.
I have a small cat called Rúsína (Raisin). She is staying with my mom because my current apartment doesn't allow pets. Unfortunately, my mom has completely fallen in love with Rúsína so I doubt I'll get her back!
I love growing vegetables, my dream when (if) I settle down would be to have a small greenhouse and a big garden to grow plenty of food.
I'm a videographer, I make videos for festivals and musicians. I also like to make short films, especially documentary. I'm also a licensed park ranger but currently not working as one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people, I find that people who travel a lot are the easiest to talk to and most outgoing.

Other vegans and/or queers especially welcome to hit me up! Since I am a lgbtq person.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to music all the time.
Notable artists include: STRFKR, Jorja Smith, Cleo Sol, Stromae, Radiohead, Bon Iver and so many more.

I'm reading an interesting book about editing documentary films, when I'm not consumed by university textbooks. I've also just started reading Journey to the center of the earth by Jules Verne.
I love ethnographic documentaries like the ones from Agnes Varda. I also like Werner Herzog's 'Encounters at the end of the world' and 'Burden of dreams' is just gold.
I love to go to the cultural cinema in Reykjavík which is called Bíó Paradís, they show some really good indie films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Came out as trans :) It's been a long journey.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my love for music and food and recommend places in Reykjavík. I also know stuff about national parks and folklore.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a good listener, I'm interested in spending time with the host and I'm usually flexible when I travel.
