About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never stop learning.

ABOUT ME

A few things about me:

I secretly have the urge to correct spelling and grammar on advertisements.

I like to travel to places that not many people go to, just to see what's there.

I love what I do... medicine is incredibly exciting.

I like to listen to people's stories.

I sometimes disagree with people just because otherwise the other side of the argument doesn't get said. It's not because I don't like you.

I love a good party. Especially if it has a theme that makes me laugh.

I think there's appropriate music for almost every situation. Life is better with a good soundtrack.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep an open mind to new ideas, people and experiences; there's so much amazing stuff in the world, it would be a shame to never discover it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed my way across 18 countries! So many of the people I've met in my travels have just been too awesome for words.

Interests

Saying "traveling" seems like a pretty obvious answer on here, but I do. I love music, especially live. Reading, firetwirling, dancing (badly), seeing the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Some current favourites are Sigur Ros, Tool, Cog, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Radiohead, John Butler Trio, Karnivool, Jose Gonzalez, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Whitlams, The Cat Empire...

Books: The Secret History, The Fountainhead, Dune, Game of Thrones, Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy, The Time Traveller's Wife, Dostoevsky's 'The Idiot', and of course the masterpiece of 20th century literature that is The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on top on a hill at 4am on New Years Day after a huge night of dancing and playing music, and listening to a group of monks chanting to bring in the dawn of the new year. It had been raining all week, and the moment the sunlight started to peak through the other end of the valley and the monks started to sing it stopped raining and the clouds started to disappear. It was a truly magical moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do some firetwirling, so I can teach you some if you want. All you really need to start learning is a broomstick or curtain rod or something, or a tennis ball in an old sock if you prefer the poi style ;)

I could also teach you some guitar if you're keen.

I love to learn languages. Even if you only have time to teach me "You have daring taste in pants" or "two beers please" I would be most appreciative.

I have a rather limited repertoire in terms of cooking skills, so I'd love to learn to make some different dishes.
