One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On a sweltering day in the northern Myanmar town of Hsipaw, my travelling partner and I took a walk to the edge of the village, through an old cemetery and down through a series of rice padies where we received big smiles and hearty waves from local ladies working the fields. As we walked we passed water buffalo wading in the river and corn kernels laid out to dry beside bamboo huts. At the end of our walk was a large waterfall which showered us with a beautifully cool mist. On our return trip we came upon a friendly lock man riding his water buffalo through the corn rows, who seemed just as amused as us at the chance meeting. Overall it was a serene day in which I felt truely lost in and connected to the beautiful country of Myanmar.
